Columbia Acceptances

Did anybody emailed or faxed notification letters of other universities, requesting a expedited reply from Columbia? If yes, how long before they answered?

I sent an email with my notificaiton letter of Berkelely attached asking a response before the 28th of March but did not hear anything since.

Good luck to everybody!

When did you guys who got admitted applied ?

Unfortunately, I did it only at the deadline. Do you think that I still stand a chance ?

I did apply on the very deadline as well. So be patient. I called the admissions office earlier this week and they confirmed that the review process will last until end of April. I am sure people will still receive admission emails. Contrary to some other universities, Columbia seems to email applicants as soon as they make a decision on each case (or a bunch of them). Meaning that, as long as you have no rejection email, you can receive an admission one. It happened to me. Believe!

Hey, to those who applied late, I applied late, like last minute kind of deal, and I just got admissions e-mail on Friday (Ireland). Going nuts waiting for decisions from these places. I dont know if anyone else here has experienced the mystery that is the Harvard test e-mail. The whole thing seems exceptionally cruel. Why build people's hopes only to dash them utterly in a few days? That board seriously freaked me out. I'm glad I didnt find this site until today or I would have been a nervous wreck.
So far, Yale no, NYU yes, Columbia yes. Waiting on Cambridge and Harvard. I know some people heard from Harvard on Friday, but to be honest, considering the total randomness of the decision making process in each law school and the sheer number of applications and admissions places I dont think you can read anything into the fact that some people have received admissions e-mails and others havent. All this speculation about what different things mean and time limits and geographical locations of admissions is like fortune telling. Absolute crap! I work at a law school in Ireland, and believe me, administration follows no rules and cannot be assessed or predicted. Its like a practical application of chaos theory.
The only one that seemed to be on the ball was NYU, who did the whole thing very professionally and with minimal amount of fuss.
If you didnt get in this time I wouldnt worry. I sent in applications to same places 2 years ago and I was rejected all round. It was a rather depressing time to say the least. But I made determined effort to plump up CV and experiences. Set myself goals and this year things seem to be going well. Point is dont give up. I really hope everything works out for people posting here. Its kind of nice to know that there are other people who freak about this as much as I do.

I am in the same situation - my application was complete by mid-november and I haven´t heard from them so far... There´s hope, I guess...

Hi all

I am trying to decide whether or not I should e-mail them to push CLS to reach a decision soon... I have applied in the very last minute, I think my stuff only arrived there on the deadline. Anyway I am waitlisted for Cornell, I found out yesterday, and I would be happier to go to CLS if I could but I would be happy to go to Cornell if that turns out to be the only school who can possibly want me...

Do you think I should e-mail CLS?

Thanks in advance

in my case, i emailed them telling them i had deadlines to enroll to other schools where i was already admitted but that a decision from CLS would be a defining factor. They immediately replied the following:

"Decisions are made through late April. You will be notified by e-mail when a decision is made on your file. Thank you for your patience. If you fax letters of admission from other universities, we will try to expedite review."

FYI, I did not send any faxes...I decided to wait...("entertaining" myself with this whole 2nd test email some of us got from HLS, etc.)
Anyway, I personally dont think "pushing" them is a good idea.

hmm..anushka..u might want to re-think over sending the faxes..i dont think it would harm. i received my admit yesterday. have also recd the same from NYU. a friend of mine had said the same thing abt sending the faxes and expediting the review process. .. i mailed them regarding the same saying i could do so if required...to which they did not reply...however in the course of a few days they sent me the decision....

i read your posts which reflect upon the amount of time you have waited...best luck... i believe u got into NYU as well with scholarship...
