Hi Matias,
Thanks. I'm from Beijing, China. Have not received I-20s, nor notice on posting out. SISS confirmed its receipt of my NIF cover letter on May 30. Have they notified you when they mailed out I-20s? Where are you? Good luck for getting visa and see you in Cal.

Got yesterday a negative response to my application for financial aid...

hello there
it turns out that almost the 30 admits gathered here in this blog! well Congrats to all of us. and we all are from different countries. Cool!! I want to take international financiial law and human rights. But i guess we need to check whether we can take classes we want..
In regard to the housing. it's pretty though. i am cheching their housing website. You need to pay $25 in order to access it , but trust me it's worth it. I got a financial award letter yesterday. I guess there is no finanical aid for the international students, huh?
I will be glad to make friends even before getting to the school If not then will you all of you at Boalt on August 10.
Good Luck to all of us!

Hi guys, I have got my I-20s on June 28 and made an appointment of interview with US ambasy in Beijing on July 13. Hope I'm not the last being awarded visa.

Hello Yuan,
you're certainly not the last one being awarded visa. I'm still waiting the papers to start visa application...

Hello to everyone starting Boalt in August!
My name's Martyn, I'm a 22 year old student from England, just fresh from graduation last week! Slightly worried I might be the baby of the LLM group - is it rude to ask for everyone else's age?
As for visas and housing, etc, the I-20 is apparently on its way to me now, I have been refused financial aid, and as yet have no housing. Can't decide whether I'd rather live somewhere like the international house (does anyone know if they have space left anyway?) or find a nice apartment somewhere. I think my plan at the moment is to stay in a hostel somewhere for a week or two while I find a nice place. Thoughts?
As regards the law, well I'm just going to pick the courses which seem the most interesting - I love constitutional & administrative law and human rightsy stuff so will probably go in that sort of direction.
Well, nice to 'meet' some of you on here - look forward to sharing a drink with you all in August!
Best,
Martyn

Hi Martyn, My name is Astine. I am 27 (I guess not too old huh?) and working in the Administartive Law Unit in CA. We are dealing with human rights and etc. If you have any questions, let me know about US Pubic Interest /Admin law.
I am trying to find a place to rent. There is no spot in campus :) Why the I-20 is so late? Will you have time to come for the picnic?

Hi,
The macbook has the ability to dual-boot, in other words, you can have both windows and the mac os. If you don't like OS X, you can always just reboot the macbook and use windows XP or vista instead. Usually macs don't come bundled with windows though, so you got to buy it yourself. The utility which allows you to utilize this dual-boot feature is called bootcamp and is avaliable for free on apple's website. If you don't want to install bootcamp yourself, i think you can get any apple store to do it for you, for a fee of course.
This feature is only available on intel macbooks though, so make sure you get that and not the older power mac notebooks. Also bootcamp only works on the 32 bit versions of vista and not on the 64 bit version.
Personally, I prefer OS X though, and the usual stuff needed for school such as MS word etc are avaliable in Mac versions with some slight differences from their windows counterparts.
Hope this helps

Hi,
Congratulations to you all!
I'm interesting to apply fo Berkeley in the next year. I heard that Berkeley prefer students who received scholarships from their home countries. Is that true? Because I have tried to apply for many scholarships but never get one. And I really to study at Berkeley next year.
Pata

It could be fun to organize something (before serious things start) with all LLM-people already arrived at Berkeley...
From the posts I see that Matias, JC and you have already arrived...
I have their private e-mail address. I send you all an e-mail this evening to schedule an appointment.
As far as I am concerned, I live in an apartment outside the campus (1 mile from campus). I will therefore use a bike!
See you!
