I guess it wouldn't be so hard waiting if I have an admission notification as Twelfth monkey. What are the universties you were admitted?

I'm from the UK. I have offers from ucla and cornell but berkeley is where i really want to go. it's annoying cos by the time I'll hear I'll have had to pay a deposit for another uni and sort out housing at that place.

waitlisted too.!! sucks!
Posted Mar 17, 2009 03:01
Hi! I'm waitlisted by both Chicago and Boalt. But it seems many of you are admitted to both programs. Hopefully that could increase my chances of being admitted......
Posted Mar 17, 2009 03:05
given the apparent (huge) size of the waitlist, i believe that realistically our chances of reaching admission are very very very slim. I guess the positive side is that waitlist hurts the ego less than outright rejection, despite of the fact that the ultimate outcome is more likely to be the same (i.e., not joining the program). Let's see what happens. Best of luck to all.

Waitlisted also. I agree with slave.lex, lets just keep our hope(not too much) and start making arrangements in the uni that accepted us!

Many thanks for the critical analysis. My problem is I applied to very few schools. And there's not any admission ticket in my pocket. It's driving me crazy.

from all the activity that i have seen on these forums over the last couple of hours, it seems that there a ALOT of waitlisted folks! The only beauty about the waitlisting process is that candidates are actually quality ranked against each other, wish they did this with the regular admissions process as well, i have seen a few 21/22/ and 23y/o admitted straight out of school, which begs the question, what were they thinking?, when they have candidates with excellent academic credentials and several years of law practice been waitlisted. The misterious nuances of the admissions' decision-making process!

Fellows, really hope you can help me to clear my mind...how can anybody be admitted into Columbia (4th) and rejected by Berkeley or even Virginia? What's the logic behind admission office criterias? Can I still hope to get into HLS after been rejected by Berkely (due to the size of the program perhaps)?
Posted Mar 17, 2009 06:22
i don't think that there is direct/linear correlation between acceptances/rejections amongst programs, if you have good credentials, your chances are 50/50 each time. It is like playing roulette :)

thank you for your response, but I won't sleep well tonight thinking that my own future is running on the ragged edge...
Posted Mar 17, 2009 06:29
dude, you got admitted to Columbia!!! I can come over and slap some sense into you! :)
Count your blessings, Columbia is a household name in legal education, you are in the heart of NYC (well, a bit North easternly to the heart of NYC), get access to the best professors and networking opportunities availble in the world of corporate/finance law. I wish i was in your spot.

Wasn't talking about me unfortunately, although only now I realize I was mistaken when I decide not to apply to either CLS or NYU. I got into Cornell, Duke and Northwestern, but rejected from Berkeley. Still waiting for HLS and Chicago, but every day my hopes weaken...
Posted Mar 17, 2009 06:51
Duke, NW, and Cornell...that a hell of a track-record of admissions. My guess is that you will be a least waitlisted by both HLS and Chicago. I know that admissions are out for both of them already. Good Luck!

thank you for your kind words! I feel a little more confident now. Best of luck to you of course!

I got waitlisted too.
Posted Mar 17, 2009 08:41
i am also in the wait listed lot. I applied on the last day for all the colleges in US and extremely late for UK colleges....I got wait listed at UPenn and finally got rejected. I applied to LSE mid Jan, by then LSE had started coming out with their results....and got wait listed there too. AH! another one, i been wait listed at UCLA too but am not too keen on UCLA....so it doesnt bother me, but certainly Berkeley and LSE does.
:(:(
