I agree with you, I think there will be another round next friday, and them the final rejections and the proper waitlist itself... btw, do you know if there is some sort of quota per country?

This is the only info that can be grabbed:
2008 L.L.M. Entering Class Profile
Approximate number of applicants: 1000 Approximate number enrolled: 100
Typical Countries Represented
Austria Belgium Brazil China Colombia
France Germany Greece India Israel
Italy Japan Korea Mexico Nigeria
Pakistan Russia Saudi Arabia South Korea Spain
Switzerland Taiwan Thailand United Kingdom United States
Like in all other schools I assume there's not an official quota/country (as in Brazil MUST be represented by no more than 5 students) but obviously, for the sake of diversity, they will have rough restrictions and "pockets" by region or even country.

Thanks 12th., although it did not get my hopes up. I agree with you, there should be some restrictions, which is not good at this point of the "game"...
Btw, you seem to be a brazilian, am i wrong?

i wonder how many people from the United States get admitted, any guesses anybody?
Posted Mar 15, 2009 06:52
I'm one of those who are still waitting...I'm from China.
Posted Mar 15, 2009 07:01
are the rejections sent via e-mail or postal service?
I guess if one has yet to receive a rejection, one is still in the game (fingers-crossed).

they e-mail rejections too...they also wrote that - this year - they received over 800 applications from over 65 different countries...however, it didn't lessen my disappointment...

I have not received any news from Berkely, neither.
I cannot but grant that I was not the first preferable candidate for Berkeley (this fact is already sad enough), but also think there still will be 2 chances. One is March 19 when the first admitted people reply. The otehr is the day when HLS releases their decisions as at least 150 seats will be opened again in other law schools.
Friends who are still waiting, let's be patient and keep our fingers crossed...

@Stagista
Don't take it to heart, you are obviously very well qualified since you are already admitted to three other top programs DON'T FORGET THAT!!.
It seems that these admissions decisions are somewhat of a mystery and not necessarily based on your resume (don't be surprised if some 21year olds with no work experience got in, and you where rejected...are those 21 y/o more qualified than you? of course, not)....my point is that not everybody who is getting acceptance notices are "super stellar candidates, there will be many "straight-out-of-schoolers" who simply (only) had good grades.
As to their claim of the over 800 candidates, that number seems similar to last year's.

thank you slave.lex. I got your point, but I'd like to know how many Italians got into and with which credentials. As I don't want to become a lawyer or a law professor either, I considered myself as an "alternative" candidate, who already began to move his first spets toward a career in the IIOO's world...all that said, I still rely on Harvard, where not conventional candidates have always been kindly considered, while other schools are likely to keep following in their path without exceptions...I can just wait and (hopefully next week) be notified of my future...however, sweet position when you cry with a spot granted in 3 top-schools...

@Stagista
excuse my ignorance, but what is "IIOO"?

LOL, far from Barzilian. Perhaps you subconsciously associated me (or the correspondent film 12 Monkeys) with another one of Terry Gilliam's movies ('Brazil')? I'm Austrian btw.

I'm in the waiting list. I just received the email.
Waiting is killing me, I can't imagine waiting for more time!!
Horrible situation but I guess I must be happy is not a rejection!

Also got waitlisted just now.
Question:
"The waiting list will be ranked by May 1st and we will provide your quartile placement on the list if you contact us after that date."
Do I understand correctly that until May 1st no decisions at all can be expected and only thereafter will the incoming enrollments/admission rejections be considered as the spots become available?
