Gregor,
how about you becoming our contact person with vic telesino for all these worries/queries. you know. since you already taken a deferment, you can be cool and collective and we'll have a best person to represent our case from our side. what do you say mate?
So whats you study plan for this year?
Anyone on the waiting-list of UCLA ?

I get the sense I am one of the very few domestic JD's who applied to UCLA's LLM progran directly out of an american law school.
Posted May 06, 2009 07:03
i do you think we'd have a better chance of admittance had we applied for the new program?
but then, how were we supposed to know that this program was going to start? =(

any other offers for you bliss, cornell, duke etc.? don't feel bad something is there for all of us
Posted May 06, 2009 20:29
if i can count looking at posts then may be 20 or so in waitlist and don't know others who didn't even saw this forum. whats ur approximate guess, bliss?
Posted May 06, 2009 20:47
Hey, thanks for your cheering me up. I got admitted to other schools, eg Duke, which is also a very good school. But I take into account on the city where I would spend my life for a year as well. I thinking living in a city like LA is obviously beneficial in many ways.
For the est amount of waitlists, i agree with u. It should be abt 20-30s. IMO, not all 45 candidates registered in Facebook will actually enroll, a few of them may turn down their admission and go somewhere else. There must be some!!!.... (I just try to think possitively) :-)

bliss is it just 45 or 52 candidates on ucla facebook? i can see a total of 52 as of today
Posted May 06, 2009 22:12
there's 52...you can only join this facebook group if vic allows you to join it. so i am guessing these ppl are enrolling...
Posted May 06, 2009 22:45
i guess so..else if they won't then vic can delete/decline their invitations. i've observed in the past total number going up and down both. so if all these going to enroll then wahts left for us, nothing. so lets roll out the carpet, put on some music and take out that chilled stuff from refrizarator because i m done for this year admissions, let go have some party now....no wait a sec..i can't. its not good .

Hi everyone,
In light of the discussion above, I'd like to provide you with an update on the waiting list process for the UCLA School of Law LL.M. Program.
At this time, several applicants have received offers of admission from the Graduate Studies Committee, and have a deadline of mid-May to accept or decline the offer. After we have received responses from these students, the Commitee will be able to determine how many spaces are available for those currently on the waiting list. We will then begin making offers of admission to those on the list, and notifications will continue throughout late May and June.
Therefore, if you received a notice earlier this year that you have been placed on our waiting list, you are still on the list, and will remain so until I inform you of the Committee's final decision. UCLA regulations restrict me from disclosing the specific composition of the waiting list, but I can inform you that in previous years about 25-35% of those on the list were offered admission.
Please note that the new Transition to Practice program described on our website will have no bearing on your likelihood of gaining admission. (Separate spaces have been set aside for students admitted to this program, and applications will be evaluated by a separate committee using standards that differ from the standard LL.M. admission process.) Also, the Facebook group for new students is not an accurate reflection of the number of students in our class, as current and former students have joined the group in addition to incoming students.
Finally, to those of you who have posted in this thread, please allow me to convey my sincere appreciation of your desire to attend our program, and apologize for the anxiety caused by the long waiting list process. The instant a final decision has been reached regarding your admission, I will notify you by email, and an official letter will follow by post.
Best regards,
Vic Telesino
Manager of Graduate Studies
UCLA School of Law
