I haven't been rejected yet, but I absolutely will be - I only applied because it was a condition of applying to other scholarships that you apply for every possible source of funding.
I had a bit of a click through people's profiles and I see that OK_Computer is from the States. They had an earlier Gates deadline, didn't they? If so, that could explain why we haven't been rejected yet. Assuming, of course, that you're not also American!

I'm not American so you may be just about right!

Just re-read the e-mail, it even says it's only addressed to applicants from the USA, so I've no idea why they sent me one since I'm not from the USA. I applied early, however (beginning of October), so maybe that's why I got into the first round. Here's some info on the application process for Gates:

Last year, the interview invitations for shortlisted Americans came from gatesevents@admin.cam.ac.uk.

Under my understanding of the rules, there's still hope for you if you're (1) not an American or (2) an American not living in the States. This was just to let Americans living in the States, like me, that they aren't in the running anymore
Good luck everyone. And Merry Christmas.

Last year by this time they had announced the first decisions, this time from the thread I understand there have been no decisions announced this year.

All decisions for U.S. applicants living in the U.S. have been made: http://www.gatesscholar.org/apply/

She probably won't be able to help you, since the BoGS is responsible for the receipt of your app and CamSIS. Call them (don't email them, they won't answer).

Hey all, I'm new to this board :)
Has anyone heard back from Cambridge yet? I checked out AppTracker and noticed that this time last year (6 January 2010) Cambridge made a fair few offers.
I just wondered if they were doing the same this year?
Law lad.

Apparently offers were sent as from mid-december last year.
So far no one seems to have heard back from them yet...
Hopefully this is good sign.

Fingers crossed they make soon offers soon :)

Yep, I guess we are all on the same boat here...
I reckon some of us should receive an offer in the upcoming days.

Considering the early deadline, I'm not sure early applications influence the admission process. I'm not sure though.

Knowing that offers were made on January 6 last year, I had (completely irrationally) fixated on today as the day when there might possibly be some news.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw that there were new posts in this thread, but it turned out only to be people who were just as anxious about when we might hear something as me!

Ahah ! I experienced worth ! On the end of December, I received an e-mail from Ms. Wade (LLM secretary). Unfortunately she was just answering an e-mail of mine that I'd sent almost 2 months earlier...
"Try again" :D

Ha, here's hoping the next email from Ms Wade is more exciting!
