I'm not sure when the earliest offers went out last year. I applied October 15, understood implicitly that I'd been admitted in mid-December (based on scholarship shortlisting), and received the departmental letter of admission on January 5. It took quite a while for BoGS to process things after that.

That's good to know, it's earlier than I thought!

And it means that some decisions are probably imminent this year. Wow.

Scary stuff!

Posts from last year suggest that the very first round of offer emails - coming directly from one "Ms Wade" from the Law Department - may come out this week before they close for Christmas...

guys!does the language profficient plays a big role dispite of the Grades within a degree?example if one gets 6 in IELTS and has a first class, will this have any effects any decison?

IELTS: Yes, 6 is not enough. You need 7.5 overall. I'm pretty sure this gap is too big to be waived. Repeat the test, you still have plenty of time. Grades won't help you if don't achieve the IELTS score or at least come VERY close to it.
Emails: Yep, true, got my email last year on December 21 :-)
But don't panic, they send out emails for literally months to come!

If I remind correctly, the FAQ on Cambridge's website states that if you do not manage to meet the conditions of your offer - including language proficiency -, the latter is withdrawn.

By the way, I am having HUGE doubts right now, I have sent all the required documents by registered letter, and thus know that they have been duly received by the BoGS, but my self-proceed platform still indicates that I should send the required documents prior to the deadline and that otherwise my application would be withdrawn.
On the other hand, I read that it took some time before said platforms were uploaded last year... so I'm wondering whether this is normal or not ?
Thanks !

I believe you're OK, but I'd call anyway. There was a couple of days' delay between receipt of my documents and an update on the self-service platform. There may be even a longer delay now, with Christmas almost upon us.
Posted Dec 19, 2010 21:42
My documents arrived on 29 November and weren't acknowledged for 12 days.
BoGS is probably overwhelmed at the moment with people like us rushing to get in before the 1 December deadline! Hopefully your CamSIS will update soon.

Any early (good) news from Cambridge anyone?
Posted Dec 21, 2010 14:56
Nope. It seems some good news was making the rounds in years past. Is it snowing in Cambridge?
Posted Dec 21, 2010 15:48
Lol, it snowed pretty heavily on Saturday in Camb. Absolute chaos at the airports. But I suppose this wouldn't affect emails, would it? Well, I got mine exactly one year ago, on December 21, 2009, in the afternoon. Might wanna keep an eye on your inbox :-P.

Well, I guess the Faculty has closed for the Christmas break, so we can all check our emails without holding our breaths for the next week or so.
Merry Christmas, everyone, hope there's good news next year!

Has anyone else received an e-mail from the Gates Cambridge Trust this week?
I got an e-Mail from the Trust on Wednesday saying I had not been included on the interview shortlist, but was wondering whether it was a good sign that they had considered me at all. Does anyone know whether they send rejections out to all applicants or only those who are being made offers?
Okay, I know this is all just speculation and I don't really want to have my hopes up too much...
Merry Christmas everyone!

I haven"t received anything from Gates but don't worry too much, it's'way harder to get a Gates scholarship that to get into the LL.M. program.
Merry Christmas to all of you!
