Hi! I haven't received any letter yet, but I called today to New College and they told me I was accepted there too (New was my first choice).

I'll see you there Elizabeta! Where are you planning to live?

Does anyone have particular recommendations as where to live?

Thanks!

Well, my letter states that most of the graduate students are accommodated in the Weston Buildings, and I've accepted the accommodation offer as well. I suppose I'll be living there?

They are 5min walk from the college building, and near the city centre...

I look forward to meeting you there! :)

a few people live in warham house just round the corner. in either case accommodation is fine, and at weston you are LITERALLY right next to the law faculty, as in ten yards away. it's a great set up. enjoy :)

Wow, thanks for all the info!
From what I've seen, Warham is also newly renovated and seems really nice! :)

Thanks Elizabeta and Good Gosh, this is really useful! I was getting anxious that I didn't know where to live. I'll check both Warham and Weston, because to be honest, I really don't have a clue of how the housing system of the colleges work and what is more convenient.

Thanks again!

I have just received an offer from St. John's college via post. Isn't it strange that some others wrote in this thread about a St. John's offer in e-mail couple of weeks back? I never received any e-mail, just this letter now.

The problem is that no scholarships are offered, so I will have to go for a loan... hope it's worth it.

The person a few weeks ago heard about their John's offer at the same time as a scholarship offer, which could explain the difference.

I'm still waiting to hear from St John's. Do you mind me asking where you're from so I can estimate postal times?

Hi, I didn't receive any news from St John's, so I wrote them but unsuccessfully. Anyway, try to write to the Faculty (postgrades enquiries), since they should be able to give you some information on your status of admission to a college

Hi guys,

do you think that a IELTS score of 7.5 (overall) would be acceptable even if one component is lower than 7, to the extent that another test with 7 in that "weak" component is delivered? A kind of "combination" I mean....(I know it sounds quite unusual....)

P.S. anyone else still "orphan" of college??

Hahaha)))) "combination":)) I know what you feel, I had the same situation last year. I was told that I must have all components not lower than 7... So, I had to pass the test 4 times. I don't know how it is this year, but you should definitely ask about this stuff!!! They can make an exception for you:)

Are there any current or former BCL students lurking on here?

I've been invited to a very close friend's wedding in Australia over Easter next year. I've heard horror stories about BCL students locking themselves in their rooms and studying for 20 hours a day in the months before exams... am I completely deluded in considering a 2 week trip to Australia?

Of course, there'd still be the question of how I'm going to *afford* the trip home, but there's no need to worry about that if it won't be feasible for me to go anyway.
