Yeah, I’ve been refreshing this forum every 15mins or something, hoping that someone says they got an email so we know it begins.
I think that will make us even more restless until we receive our respective emails.
Oh yeah, I expect to no longer be able to function as a proper human being the second someone said it begins. But at least, that will show us the end is near!

Hi all,
just a thought.
Last year the deadline was 19 Jan and the offers came out around 14-15 March, which was the Wednesday of the eighth week since the deadline closed.
Given that the deadline is 25 Jan this year, do people really think that they will be a week faster than last year, despite the email telling us that it would take between 8-10 weeks to give admission results?
just a thought.

I initially thought the same but this year, the outcome for the MLF was released around the same time as last year, which makes me assume they’re sticking to the same dates rather than strictly stick to the 8-10 week rule. It is also consistent with the statement that someone called the faculty and confirmed we should hear around this week.
Also, last year’s admission cycle was affected by strikes and the Faculty of Law was no exception, which may have delayed the process.
just a thought.

Good luck to this year's applicants. Currently reminiscing the agonising wait in a college library :p

Day 46: I just got an email from my bank and almost had a heart attack.
This process is painful: I expect that, by the end of the week, I will get startled by any vibration of my stomach, thinking it's my phone.

Hello all! I have been following this thread for some time now and thought, given results will be released rather soon, it was time for me to join in. Hopefully we begin hearing about decisions in the coming days. Best of luck to everyone!

Hi everyone!
Is anyone else a mature student with children that has applied for the bcl or will I be lonesome??

Just wondering if they will start sending out offers today if it is true that they are sending out offers this week because in the past the practice was that offers were made in a 3-day period!

I sure hope so! Based on how many people are silently watching this discussion (there’s like 100 views per hour), I’m sure someone will let us know soon!

I'm in my early thirties but without kids. Is that considered mature?

Hello everyone,
Not to add to everyone's anxieties but I'm afraid we will have to wait for another week - I called the admissions office several days ago and they suggested that the decision date would most likely be Friday 22nd March.
Good luck everyone!

So the correct date for hearing about the BCL is the 22nd, rather than the 14th, as suggested earlier?

ARGH that's sad to hear. Did you call the Faculty or the Graduate Admissions Office? Could someone in the UK just give the Faculty a ring and relieve our agony......

This should happen IF the eight to ten week period is taken into consideration. According to what I read, it seems that the Graduate Admissions office started releasing their decisions with regard to the MLF earlier than expected, so it may happen the same in our case. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The Graduate Admissions Office. They said that it would normally be 8-10 weeks but in the case of the BCL an "internal email" (ambiguous as to whether the email was from the Faculty or GAO) had floated around saying the decision date would be around Fri March 22nd.

By "earlier than expected", do you mean earlier than the 8-10 week estimate or earlier than an estimate that the Graduate Admissions Office gave?
Of course, the decision date could have changed in between my phone call and now, perhaps the MLF decisions suggest it will be earlier than Mar 22

That’s the part I’m not sure of haha sorry! It’d be great if it happens this week...

My understanding is that GAO handles the whole pre-application and coordination aspect of admissions but as soon as your application has been sent off and checked for all attachments to GAO, it is outside their remit. This is why the portal will never get updated (even though on the department’s side, they have to click a tiny button to say they’ve made an offer to a student) and that is why all your communications after admission are with the department and you have no contact with the GAO. I also know it is GAO policy to never give a specific date other than refer to the 8-10 weeks thing, which might explain why you were given the March 22 date (precisely 8 weeks past the deadline).
I could be wrong and I am probably biased insofar as I really hope results will come out this week but so far no element indicates that we can’t or won’t have results this week.
However, I must add that the person described on the law faculty website as dealing with the ‘administration of all graduate students (particularly research students) including admissions’ is on leave until Friday. I don’t know to what extent she’s involved in the application process (especially if she focuses on research students) but if she is very involved that might explain things.
