How about everyone else who has their Cam offers? Would Oxford (or perhaps another institution) make you change your mind? Has anyone become set on Cambridge irrespective of other offers?

For me, I donno yet, I have to see the conditions but ı would prefer cambridge over oxford.

I chose Trinity College, with Trinity Hall as my second.

I found out after Trinity College don't really take any LLMs, I'm hoping Trinity Hall might take me - it would be great to spend the year there!

Alvin, it's a special position to be in (with a Cam offer) so I hope that, should it unfortunately transpire this way, any disappointment from Oxford will not affect that jubilation and achievement! Have you had any news on the scholarship front? Did you apply for the Merton College scholarships at Oxford?

Tigerland, it is indeed a special position to be in. Cambridge has replied exceptionally early. Previously, a senior of mine got rejected by Oxford, only to get an offer from Cambridge later. He had to go through the horrifying wait, worrying about a possible 2nd rejection. I guess that wouldn't apply to me.

No news on scholarships yet. Perhaps I would hear some weeks later, together with the colleges. For Oxford, I did apply for the BCL scholarship. But i think it would be extremely competitive (just trying out my luck).

And how is your article going on? It was really an excellent achievement i must say. It is one of my dreams to have a publication.

At least there can be a modicum of relaxation for you whilst waiting upon Oxford! As it seems that Merton offers the most generous scholarship (and specifically to the BCL/Mjur) I would have imagined that they will be inundated with first choice preferences. I too have applied to try my luck!

Thanks, I'm over the moon with it but I would trade it for your Cambridge offer! I have emailed Miss Wade to let her know about the news and she kindly said she would add that to my application file, so I hope it will work in my favour in that regard. I'm just awaiting an email from my assigned editor regarding any suggestions on revisions etc. Are you planning to submit any other pieces for the Autumn edition?

Oh, that's great. I'm sure the publication would bring you an offer from Cambridge. And we'll probably meet in Merton, hehe.

About my article, I'll modify it slightly, and then a resubmission for the autumn issue. Again, just trying my luck. I'm hoping that they'll just let mine go through in view of my persistence, haha.

I'm hoping it will at least help my application. It was only a couple of days ago and so at least I know I'm not yet rejected (otherwise I wouldn't have a file for it to be added to!!) What does your article address? Good luck, I think it's the beginning of March for the next submission deadline. Haha, persistence is key! I would have liked to have submitted another piece but I doubt it will be finished in time! I might try and do a case-note though if I have time!

That's good news. No rejection equals good news.
Mine is on trust law. I just didn't have the time to really do it. I'm bugged down with lots of work now (writing sample essays for the college, classes, exam preparations, etc). I'm considering a case note too, but there is just no time. But I just got my pay for writing those sample essays, which was four times over what I have expected, hehe. That's where a string of happy events started to flow.

I will happily buy you a drink, haha. But if we both get it, you'll have to buy me a drink too, haha.

Sample essays? Do you mean a kind of model essay for students to use as a guide in obtaining high results? Sounds good! Time is an issue for me too. I mean, how on earth could I manage to write an essay when I have all of this periodic email inbox checking?!!!

been keeping tabs on the emerging offers for a bit...congratulations to everyone in so far...

Am finding the wait awful (email checking sounds familiar). Have a bad feeling on this one to be honest, having seen what others are offering experience-wise I am feeling distinctly average!
What are the impressions people have on the relative importance of the various criteria for admissions? My feeling on this traditionally was that institution was absolutely crucial...basically would have to be from a top school to get a look in. Then a friend told me someone they knew went from somewhere pretty normal. That strikes me as a bit odd..
I expect a few of you are experts on this......

There didn't seem to be any agreement as to what the position is, but I remember reading somewhere that Oxbridge do not consider any English law school so bad that they wouldn't consider admitting someone with a first from an English school. Each application is considered on its own merits, and lots of people who are not from top schools do get in.

Just to let you know, I went to an average UK university and was offered a Cambridge LLM place in what the rumours suggest is the 'exceptional' candidates, first offer period. Really, it is individual merit that matters, not some decision you made at the begining of your academic life which you didn't recognise could work to shape your future so.
