Oxford BCL and Cambridge LLM Applicants 2009

I don't really believe in the regional decision-making or announcing of offers..

Cedric, what proof do you need. ?

There is one student from Russia, 2 from Malaysia who have studied one year in UK, a couple from UK, 1 from Ireland, 1 from Australia, 1 from a West Asian country, what other proof do you need in support of regional distribution...?

So none from continental Europe??!!

Wasn't there a German too yesterday? One who was doing a PhD.. and weren't there any people from South of Europe admitted too this week? I seem to remember it..

But it would be better that continental europe still has to receive offers because that increases my chances !! :)

Here is the German who got admitted. I pasted his post from the other topic concerning LLM Cam:
"Hey guys,

seems to me that Cambridge is starting to make offers now on a broader basis. I belong to the happy ones who just received an offer;)

As for my background: top 1-2 % at a leading law school in Germany; several academic scholarships; only some work experience; currently pursuing a phd. "

So at least one European has got an offer..

If I remember well Germany is considered on his own. That would explain also why now in the LLM there are so many Germans... I hope continental EU still has to come...

They're just kidding, they send out fake offers just to see the reactions on LLM guide.

Just a short note to clarify Cambridge's LL.M. nature. Last year, after I was conditionally admitted, I was happy to read that a (funny?) guy who was at that time doing the LL.M. in Cam described it as a "walk in the park". The comment could not be more misleading, this is very hard, demanding and many times overwhelming. As one classmate told me the other day, whoever maintains the contrary is either a genius or is missing something.

Thanks Nerx! Yea, just Oxford left.
But I'm just hoping that they don't attach any academic condition to my CLP exam! If they ask for a 1st Class....

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the CLP exam?

edit: a quick google found it for me - Common Legal Practice exam! Thanks anyway!

I doubt they would attach such a condition, it would be unfair of them and shouldn't be a factor I would presume.

Hada, it's called the Certificate in Legal Practice. Every year, more than a thousand Malaysians will take it so that they could enter practice. It is notorious for it's high failure rates (30% passes last year, only 10% in previous years). Only a handful, usually around 2-5 will get a 2nd Upper qualification (though there were 11 2.1's last year), while a 1st class is almost unheard of.

Du you know how many who actually fails the LLM in Oxbidge each year? is it so difficult that one runs a risk of failing the whole LLM?? or is the failing reserved those (very feew I would guess, if anyone??) who doesnt put down enough hard work?
