I've never heard of someone pursuing an LLM who did not make it. I think it is very rare for one to be selected for the class that is not very intelligent and motivated enough.

Mmmmh. Sometimes people fail but, as far as I know, for reasons not connected directly with their performance in their exams, I have no doubt that you get it if you work hard and, so far, everyone that I know is studying like hell. From the first day of the first term, the library was considerably full.

That's a good question. I would be interested to know if a first at Oxbridge / LSE LLM is just a dream for someone who is not a native speaker.

Some of the exams are open book, most are not. In my particular case, I have three closed book and 1 open book.
With regard to the last comment, I'm not a native speaker either, that should be the least of your concerns.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
What is the work load like? I've heard horror stories of 900 pages a week. What is the actual structure of the course with regards class size and tutorials? Who are the most interesting lecturers? Do you enjoy the LLM? Oh and finally, have you any sort of social life at all or is at all work and no play? (Being Irish, I live by the motto, work very hard, play hard!)

Workload, depends on how serious you take it. If you want a first, 700 pages per week would be the average.
You do have a (great) social life, actually, it's a main part of the LL.M.
I won't be able of making any judgment on lecturers since I don't know them all and that's a very subjective choice. They will provide you the opportunity to briefly listen to them at the beginning of the program in order to make an informed decision.

Thanks once more for such an informative reply yaiza.
While a first would be fantastic, is that ultimately desirable due to as, you said, the fact that a great social life is the main part of the LL.M? I suppose what I'm trying to say, is that while at undergrad level it is usually a 1.1 which can distinguish a great law degree, but would a good 2.1 at Cambridge LL.M have that much of a baring on matters? (I would imagine, and please correct me if I'm wrong, that the majority of LL.M grads achieve the 2.1 mark).
One last question (I'm ever so sorry for this by the way!), but what does the great social life entail at Cambridge? Are the class quite tight knit and the social life springs from there, or?
Once again, thank you so much yaiza. As you may have noticed I'm quite anxious about all of this, as I had my head set to go to LSE and live the cosmopolitan life in London for the year, so I am quite worried that I wouldn't fit in at Cambridge!

I wish I would get an offer :-( This is killing me...

Sorry, yes, I suppose my stats are needed. UK student, graduated at the top of my year from what I guess would be termed a mid/lower tier law school. No publications as yet(not unusual in the UK) but I'm currently volunteering as a research assistant at a few universities close to home so something may be in the pipe line.
Don't lose hope if you haven't heard anything yet, I'm sure you'll get some good news very soon!

Congrats S-Dimelow and the Turkey man... I have lost the count..
too many :)
So what's the conclusion so far?
I tend to see that they've done a lot of UK citizens together with some other Commonwealth countries.
But then again, there was a German, Turkish and Malaysian applicant accepted too.
What's the pattern? :)
too many :)
