Oxford 2023-2024 BCL/MSCs/MJUR/MPHIL/MLF Applicants

Hi Guys.

I just received a certificate of offer. Weirdly, I received no offer e-mail over the weekend and had written off Oxford (specially given I got reject by Cambridge too lol)?!?! I checked my spam folder and everything but there's no offer email. And yet the certificate of offer carries my name?! Could there be a mistake by any chance? The self service portal ofc shows nothing beyond upload button disappearance.

Please help people, I'm afraid I'll celebrate prematurely and then get crushed.

Same thing happened to me and don't worry you are good! Go ahead with the celebrations.
I was surprised to see my offer certificate in my inbox unaccompanied by an "offer letter is to come" email, so I panicked and emailed Marianne (BCL Contact person).
Apparently they missed a few names on their list when sending out offers on the 17th!
Congratulations!

Hey, thankyou so much for the clarification.

no worries. finally free of a weekend's worth of anxiety!

Did you make contact with your supervisor for the DPhil prior to applying?

Could your share your profile.

Congratulations!

Hello all! My heart so goes out to all who have have a difficult go (this time--I was a multiple-time applicant in American law schools, still didn't get my top choice, and I in retrospect wouldn't change a single thing!). I'm curious if anyone has thoughts on this spread-- I was accepted to the DPhil program (law) and rejected from the MPhil and BCL. I was somewhat surprised, as I would have thought the DPhil would be harder. Has anyone have an experience like this/any insights? I am of course not complaining, I'm incredibly grateful, but I'm wondering if I must have been like the lowest accepted candidate for the DPhil given my other results. Thank you my friends for indulging my crippling anxiety!

I did not make contact with a specific supervisor--I reached out to a faculty member being like "do you know of any faculty members whose interests would align with mine" but that was it (I was too shy haha). In terms of profile, I'm about to graduate from an American law school (one of the top 3, about top third of my class), interesting but not spectacular extra curriculars, one publication but not in an academic journal. I do think my proposal was a strong point of my application, so @Shahenshah's comment would make sense!

I am not sure if the admissions teams for the courses coordinate/inform the other teams as to applications to multiple courses by the same candidate, and would appreciate some information on how Oxbridge address such cases, but I would just like to say Zabciamala that you're clearly a great applicant as you've been offered a place on the DPhil! Clearly the DPhil is more suited to your academic trajectory than the MPhil or BCL and it may just be because your application was actually of a higher standard or indeed specific enough to warrant sustained academic research.

This is very kind of you, thank you! 1f642 I do think it's possible my research proposal was the difference, as it's something I'm really excited about/is new in the field.

BCL Offer Holder here. My preferred college has rejected my application.

I guess now I will be randomly allocated a college. Quite sad tbh as I really wanted my preferred choice (thought it would have been a perfect fit due to my background); but appreciate it does not really matter for graduates +  I am just happy I got on the BCL!

Has anyone else heard anything?

Sorry for you that that happened!

I've heard nothing so far - I guess no news is good news if college rejections are coming out this soon.

Can I ask what college you applied to?

I just got an email that my preferred college has accepted my application. They've asked me to confirm that I accept the offer.

If I accept it, will that mean I will no longer be considered for any of the scholarships that other colleges offer? My first priority is securing funding, so I'd be grateful if anyone could guide me on this.

Congratulations! What college did you get into?

My understanding is that you can still be transferred into another college if you get a scholarship that requires you to be in that college, but I would ask whoever your Oxford contact is for that. Best of luck with it!
