Congrats! Did you hear back recently?
Based on what I can tell from here there doesn't seem to be much of a pattern to when colleges decide but would be good to have the information.
There is no timeline really, because all apps are assessed on an individual basis (also depending on the college) or it's hard to tell when you'll hear back (hopefully soon).
No point in worrying now given we have already jumped through the most difficult hoop to get into Oxford but what criteria are colleges looking for when they review our applications? Do each college have a set of different criteria?
Yeah basically. The criteria are not set out anywhere, but for example, colleges look at whether the candidate will "fit" with the people who are already there. Also, colleges cannot take too many law students into their MCRs, because that would destroy their purpose really, etc. So the criteria are really obscure and there is no way to predict the outcome.
Those who are rejected are likely to end up at less popular colleges, such as Wadham, St Catz etc. So, for example, if you are rejected by Magdalen there is no chance for you to end up at Christ Church. Also, at the college there must be a tutor able to teach on the course that you are studying, if there are none (unlikely for law, but possible), then the college won't accept you. Same happens when that person reaches her capacity for supervision.
