honestly, I kind of hoped they would perhaps waitlist some of us today, although it makes no sense as our buttons collectively disappeared yesterday. it really does seem strange that only one person reported that for mjur, especially because many people will be rejecting their offers due to covid situation, it would be safer to have more people on the list

Totally agree. These aspects had held my hopes up for today but obviously for no reason. I'm really angry about the whole process. If the decisions have been finalised on friday, they could've been communicated during the weekend or at least last night. This was unnecessary tormenting.

I've been following this discussion for a while but never could figure out what this "magic button" business is. Anyone care to explain? Is it something to do with being able to upload any documents etc? Why do I feel like I have never had it hahaa. I've not heard back from them yet (I've applied for the BCL). Please do share if you guys see any movement on these apps - the waiting is absolutely daunting!

On the applicant portal, you click on "supporting documents", then down on the page there is (or not) the magic button to upload documents.

I had contacted the admissions office late Friday/ Saturday and received an email today at 12 GMT that they can communicate only once the department is done with assessment and that delays are to be expected because of covid- seems pretty generic. Not sure if this email means anything particularly.
Perhaps they release decisions basis the time of submission (applicants who submitted earlier hear first) or follow a master list of applicants across streams and hence no pattern is discernible to us.
I applied for the BCL and my button disappeared yesterday around 5 p.m GMT and haven't heard back yet. Perhaps mails are sent out in the order of the buttons disappearing. This explains how one person got her rejection yesterday/today since her button disappeared before many of ours as per her time stamps on this thread.
At this time I'm presuming either there are rejections to follow as there has been no traction today on this thread and last year had one batch of offers and another of rejections later or another wave of offers/rejections is on the way and is delayed for whatever reason. For instance people whose buttons disappeared on Wednesday got mails across Thursday and Friday.
Though it was said that decisions were made on Friday, i think one user put up a waitlist response she/he recieved yesterday. So let us hope another batch of decisions awaits us!

Thanks for sharing isn't it a tad contradictory that the faculty claims they finalized the decisions on friday, but on tuesday the admissions office insists that it can only communicate once the department's done with the assesment? I'm not trying to get anyone's hopes up, I think it just shows their lack of coordination...
btw, I submitted my application like an hour or so before the deadline

I cannot wait any longer!
What a coincidence! I applied 15 minutes before the deadline, mentioned my aspirations to become a barrister specialising in traditional chancery law, my button disappeared yesterday and I still don't have a response. I don't know what to expect

My money is on rejections to all of us tonight between 2am and 3am (GMT). I wish so badly that I was wrong one last time and by some miracle we would get good news tomorrow after all.

I've been saying 'I'm going to get a rejection at exactly 2 a.m. tonight' since Friday lol but yeah tonight's the night :(

Imagine it's not... and it continues for a few more days.
Posted Mar 23, 2021 23:18
I think I'll rather have that rejection email at 2AM than face another day of epic unproductivity sprinkled with obsessive refresh button mashing
Posted Mar 23, 2021 23:20
Still difficult to accept the whole thing. Still don’t understand the missing waiting list thing. Guess, we’ll never know.

Out of curiosity did all those who are yet to hear submit the application just before the deadline and mention commercial chancery in their CVs?
Posted Mar 23, 2021 23:23
I feel like we are all PhDs in Oxford postgraduate applications after this with all the crazy 'button' theories LOL
With that being said, after endless hours of never-ending lurking and compulsive refresh button smashing, I do believe rejections are coming tonight since our buttons disappeared yesterday

Yeap I mentioned my journey at the Bar and my interests in commercial/chancery law
Posted Mar 23, 2021 23:26
I guess it ends here
Posted Mar 23, 2021 23:31
Nope, submitted the application about ten days before the deadline.

don't be sad, we can do it all again next year but I'll learn how to hack the button of despair by then

I really want to figure out how they go through applications is it first come first serve or alphabetical?
