Oxford 2021-2022 BCL/MSCs/MJUR/MPHIL/MLF Applicants

jameshowar...

I really want to figure out how they go through applications is it first come first serve or alphabetical?

I heard from somewhere that when they are giving out OFFERS, they follow by country so Australian applicants hear back first.

True. Previous years' threads do indicate that it was according to the alphabetical order of countries. But not sure if that happened this year- can't come to a conclusion basis the data on this thread. Perhaps we will begin to hear from today given Wed-Fri is historically the active period. Or perhaps they don't care about sending out rejection emails given their work load.

The Magic ...

I had contacted the admissions office late Friday/ Saturday and received an email today at 12 GMT that they can communicate only once the department is done with assessment and that delays are to be expected because of covid- seems pretty generic. Not sure if this email means anything particularly.
Perhaps they release decisions basis the time of submission (applicants who submitted earlier hear first) or follow a master list of applicants across streams and hence no pattern is discernible to us.
I applied for the BCL and my button disappeared yesterday around 5 p.m GMT and haven't heard back yet. Perhaps mails are sent out in the order of the buttons disappearing. This explains how one person got his rejection yesterday/today since his button disappeared before many of ours as per his time stamps on this thread.
At this time I'm presuming either there are rejections to follow as there has been no traction today on this thread and last year had one batch of offers and another of rejections later or another wave of offers/rejections is on the way and is delayed for whatever reason. For instance people whose buttons disappeared on Wednesday got mails across Thursday and Friday.
Though it was said that decisions were made on Friday, i think one user put up a waitlist response she/he recieved yesterday. So let us hope another batch of decisions awaits us!

I’m honestly so fed up with this, how hard is it to just send out a bulk rejection email? Do they only care about those accepted? We’re all obviously very qualified if we’re applying to Oxford and it would be appreciated to be treated as such 1f622 that being said, maybe they still have offers to make...?

Regarding the call someone made yesterday and the lady’s statement: “You should all hear back by the end of tomorrow” is a funny of saying you will receive a rejection in the night after tomorrow... really disappointed about the process.
I checked the threads of the last years (specifically not only last year) and it seems like they’ve sent out rejections over the day in the past. Maybe they’re facing some issues with the computer systems and will send out the rejections manually today. But I don’t think so tbh and expect another burdensome night.

Two things. First - I have never witnessed this level of sluggishness (and I work for the UN!1f602). Second - maybe, just maaaybe the delay has something to do with our fields of interest. Mine’s property law

Hello everyone! Long-time lurker on this thread... I have also heard nothing from the BCL, applied 15 mins before the deadline, and interested in commercial/chancery practice at the Bar. Don’t know whether that means anything, but I hope there are more offers to come!

relatively similar situation - applied an hour before the deadline, indicated that I want to qualify as a solicitor and that my main area of focus is company law

Just received rejection! But only in response to my enquiry I emailed a few days ago, and I was advised that I would receive the official e-mail in the coming days. No idea why they wait so long to send the email but if anyone is really desperate it might be worth emailing the law faculty as they obviously give individual answers sometimes! Best of luck everyone 1f642

I’m sorry to hear that! Thanks for letting us know what to expect, nice to know they’re not overwhelmed, just rude

Definitely! We paid equally for the applications and it’s beyond rude to let us wait nearly a week after offers were made to get rejected.
