Oxford 2021-2022 BCL/MSCs/MJUR/MPHIL/MLF Applicants

Definitely! We paid equally for the applications and it’s beyond rude to let us wait nearly a week after offers were made to get rejected.

Do you think it's worth complaining about the process?

Also considering that people who don't know about these online fora are left completely in the dark and don't know what to expect at all, since they don't know that offers have been made on Friday?

Is it just me or were there very little BCL offers reported on the forum?

I was getting really bored at a conference call so I went through grad cafe's statistics, couldn't find another case like this in any department... the time gap is usually 1-2 days (offers to rejections). eg economics masters got their offers from march 16th through mar 21st, rejections on 22nd and 23rd.

There seems to be a huge problem with the admissions procedure this year. I’m fairly disappointed

Yep. Same applies to MJur offers and waiting list seats for both programmes (sorry for repeatedly stressing this point). Most likely, we'll never know the reasons for this.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t you say that some bcl/mjurs were rejected on saturday or sth like that?

this year there are 221 students registered, that’s why I thought it is bad news.

But you may be right maybe this was like just a one-year thing.

Isn't the BCL-Mjur ratio around 100-40 or 90-50? There's definitely way less Mjur applicants compared to the BCL. Could be why Mjur offers were all given out in a day compared to the 2 days spread for the BCL. As someone indicated earlier, they emailed the faculty and he/she was told it was a rejection. What's frustrating is the fact they knew who they wanted to offer/waitlist since way back and still wouldn't send an automated rejection which I think isnt an onerous task at all. I would say file a complaint but I don't think that'll do much

I think they would just say that they're still within the 8-10 weeks time period. it's not just about time, though. it's about transparency. don't get me wrong, I'm sure all offer holders fully deserve their place, but knowing next to nothing about the process of making the decision is unnerving.

But then again if all offers/waitlist were given out last Thursday-Friday, logically speaking, wouldn't the remaining applications be in the rejected pool? I'll have no arguments if other offers were given since Friday and we do not have enough evidence to say that it had or had not happen. Why had some of the BCL applicants received their rejections already while some hadn't? Why are we in the dark? Why am i rambling..

Maybe there is a communication gap between the acad department and the admissions department. Even the responses over mail and phone are ambiguous. Perhaps few more have received wait lists or rejections but have chose not to share the information. Last year with covid shocking the world, rejections were sent earlier than this year and presumably in one batch. After a year of being accustomed to working remotely, I'd assume they'd have a proper system in place. But then again, they probably don't consider rejection mails as a top priority.

Can someone call and ask if all offers and waitlists have already been distributed? I would do it myself, but I am very angry and afraid of becoming offensive.
