I heard from a friend - she is Brazilian - that her status changed to awaiting decision by the BOGS either today or during the weekend - she doesn't know as she was away from email for 3 days... However, just as a note, she studied in US (don't know if it is relevant...)

I am from Chile and have a conditional offer, but I study in the US so I am not sure if I would count as the US group.

Guys, I contacted Gates this morning and I have just received this response:

Dear Zuzana,

Thank you for your email. All successful International candidates shortlisted for interview how now been notified, if you have not received an email then unfortunately you have not been selected for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship. Due to the volume of applications we are unable to provide any feedback.

Best wishes,
Joanna

-> so if you have not heard from Gates yet, your application was unsuccessful (just like mine).

According to the web-site:

Gates Cambridge is delighted to announce the names of the 40 new US Gates Cambridge Scholars for 2014. A detailed announcement is available here.

A further 110 candidates will be interviewed in late March for the International Round, after which a further 55 Gates Cambridge Scholarships will be awarded. All 95 new Scholars will take up their place at Cambridge in October 2014.

http://gatescambridge.org/our-scholars/new-scholars.aspx
Thus, unless you are from the US, still chances!

Alessa, I'd love to agree with you, but I'm afraid that the reply from the Gates lady is too clear to nourish any further hopes... :((

Apparently I checked with the Grad Admissions Office. This is what is says. So it is still possible to be rejected at the BoGS stage.

"If your application is awaiting decision by the Board of Graduate Studies: We are currently taking 7 days to make a decision on applications, please be patient and continue to check your self-service for any changes to your application status."

From what I understand, the BoGS checks three things: academic requirements, English language requirements, and financial requirements. So, I believe they could only decide negatively if they find out that you have falsified your diploma / TOEFL, since the financing only becomes an issue later... Or am I getting it wrong?

Poiuytrewq posted the following this morning:

"Indian applicants can expect statuses to change any time now. Mine changed sometime over the weekend."

He doesn't expressly state that he is Indian but that seems the only logical reading of his post.
