Applications opened yesterday according to the GAO website so I thought I'd make a thread.
I will be applying but haven't done so yet! Anyone that has already applied? Judging from last year's thread we will be in for a long wait to find out :)

Just putting together my application as well. I wanted to know what cambridge college is the best to apply to in terms of extra-curricular activities given that the academics don't really get affected by the college chosen?

Hey guys,
I needed a small clarification on the Cam applications. Will my referees be contacted only after I submit my application? Or will they be contacted now when I register them, or then they need to submit the recos within two weeks?
Also, if I register them now, does that mean even my application needs to be complete and submitted in 2 weeks?
Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hey grad_student,
If you have submitted your application, that should mean you have registered your referees in the system which will automatically send them the reference request. You are given two weeks to complete your submission hence you might want to keep an eye on the progress and see if you need to send some reminders to your referees.
So, which other school are you applying to than Cambridge and what about their application? Is it any less 'stressful'?
Cheers,
Tats

Hey tatsqij,
I have not started my application yet. So to clarify, I can only register my referees when I start my application. And they need to send in my recommendation within two weeks of that date and I need to complete my application within two weeks of that date, right?
I am also applying to Harvard, Columbia and NYU in the US and I wouldn't say they are any less stressful. In the UK, apart from Cam, I will apply to Oxford, LSE and Kings. Basically I am applying to a whole host of places and hopefully someone will take me! :)

Hey Grad student,
Your referees are only registered/ contacted when you submit your application. They have two weeks from then to submit their reco's. You also have two weeks from then to upload your supporting documents.

Once you register and start on your application, you can keep saving the updated portions. That doesn't need to be completed in 2 weeks. Once you finish putting in all the details, including the essays etc. and make the payment, you have two weeks to upload supporting documents which includes the your referee's letters.

I'm applying to. Don't know where to start though. Please how do I convert my university degree, for instance in my school in Nigeria, you are assessed on a 5.0 overall scale basis wherein 4.5-5.0 is a first class, and 4.0-4.4 is a 2.1. Plus which exam is better for international students eg. TOEFL or IELTS?

As I understand it you need to complete the online application form (GRADSAF) by November 15. Then you'll be given a certain amount of time (I guess two weeks, because they say so on the GAO webside) to upload your supporting documents. Supporting documents are: language test; transcripts; references and cv.
So not everything needs to reach by mid November but two weeks later. I'm I getting this wrong?
