congratulations!!! you're so lucky to be done with the whole process!

the Spanish comittee is in no rush to start asking for interviews... they're usually in april or may and final decisions come as late as June! I'm getting kind of anxious about the whole thing..

@Italian applicants!! Did you hear something from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the date of the interview? I am starting to worry because if it will be just before or after Easter it could be very expensive to get to Rome... :/

Hi guys,

Given that I've benefitted so much from other's posts about their interview experience I thought I'd pay it forward with a general description of mine.

Well first of all, I was greeted by five panellists, first, as expected I was grilled on my motivations - why wanted to attend the COE, what I expected to gain, and what might distinguish me from other applicants i.e. what would I bring to the college that was unique to me.

Another panellist came in to ask me some thoughts on thematic European issues - views on the structure of the EU, whether it was appropriately democratic/whether there was enough leadership etc.

Then came the french question, which owing to my pathetic level of french i completely misunderstood! I probably looked intensely stupid at this point but managed not to have a panic attack (which normally i would have done)

Finally i was asked some very basic and general microeconomic questions, in English again.

In all the interview was so short and the pace so fast that there wasnt a whole lot of time to think, it just disappeared and before i knew it i was being told 'we aim to let applicants know in a few weeks'

I prepared to a sick level, developing views and arguments an a whole load of European issues - in the end i didn't speak about any of these.

In terms of tips, there's not much to say, everyone's interview seems to go slightly differently, just make sure you REALLY know why you want to go, and what you expect to get out of it in terms of the experience and your future career. Have some good basic knowledge of European issues and stay calm enough so that if they challenge you, you can think on your feet and have a conversation rather than just a back and forth Q&A session.

I think we should find out tomorrow/day after (though this might be optimistic) anyway good luck to all you guys out there, wishing you the best for your interview!

For Italian applicants! I wrote to Ms Ranocchia, and she told me that the interviews will be held in May. She still doesn't know the date, but at least now I have a vague idea about how to plan the next 30 days of my life! ^^

Thnx!
At least I'm sure I will be free from commitments at the exams session.

On the other side this delay means (or could mean) that we are a lot.
