Hello,

I am about to apply to both Amsterdam Uni and Tilburg for the LLM in EU Business Law and I am looking for some insight into the two. Can anyone advise as to the reputation of either Uni and the reputation of either program?

Thanks!

Thanks for your response. I thought (from looking at the University guide in the Times - http://www.topuniversities.com/worlduniversityrankings/results/2008/regional_rankings/top_european_universities) that Amsterdam was the best NL Uni followed by Leiden and Utrecht. In fact, on that table...Tilburg is not listed which as put me off a little bit.

I went to Groningen on the ERASMUS pragram and, although I had an amazing time and the city/people are lovely, the standard is not great at all. As for ERASMUS, I believe tuition alone is 10,000+ where as Amsterdam is about 1500 and both universities at the same level.

I agree, ranking is not everything. However, we do LLM's in order to progress and many international firms will be concerned with rankings. I read a post the other day where a lady had studied her LLM in Ghent and loved it. The teaching and course was great BUT when she applied for a job in Brussels, she received 10 rejections (from 10 applications). This is what has worried me and this is why I am focusing a little more on the reputation and ranking.
