LLM and Bar

Mel21

Hi again!

I would like to find someone who knows if it is possible to sit for the Quebec Bar when someone does a LLM at McGill? I will be graduated in Law in France and I am applyting to a LLM at McGill but I am not sure that I will be authorized to sit for the Quebec Bar after.

Thank you very much in advance!

The McGill LLM on its own doesn't entitle you to sit the Quebec bar, but you might be separately eligible because of your French law degree (esp. if you are admitted in France). I'm not sure on the specific rules, but there is probably an evaluation process that looks at your degree(s), experience, etc., rather than straightforward rules (this is how it is in the rest of Canada).
