Hi Daishonin, u mean to say that for other concentrations, CFS for example, it is still required to pay for an extra amount of compulsory fee, around 500SGD? Uhm...its sad to hear then :)
Yes, my friend...sad but true....even I am admitted for a course work degree, and its equally disappointing for me.
For those who have received an email (which includes me) stating that, their acknowledgement has not been received and they need to send an acknowledgement latest by monday, if they would like to accept the offer- I guess would be those, who were given offers for more than one degree programme, and this reminder may be for the degree programee they chose not to accept.
Can Faithhope 9 and Samd confirm if they have received dual offer? Their confirmation may end worries of lot of ppl like us.
Nevertheless, I intend to write to Grad admissions and Prof Alan Tan in this relation today during the day.

and please hurry up, if u r replying. it is already 4:40 p.m. here. office closes at arnd 5 p.m.

Daishonin, Yes, I got through both IBL and CFS, and accepted CFS. Even I thought that the I must have got the mail due to the dual offer, but I also knew that samd had applied only for CFS and yet got that mail, so that got me worried. Moreover, when I referred to the trail mail, I couldn't see any attachments of offer letter, which if still attached, would have helped me in knowing which acceptance they were referring to.
I have replied to the mail, stating the position, but I again received an auto reply, so really don't know what to do.
Aside samd, did it help going to the office personally (not that I can do it myself, but still asking). Or were they already aware about your acceptance.
Any views on what else can be done?
By the way, thanks to samd that atleast I checked my mail because of the post written, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to mail again as well.

faithhope, see, after i mailed them within in a hour i got an acknowledgement (inspite of the autoreply). so you should also get that. in case you do not receive any confirmation from them by monday, mail me ur real name and i will call up the office. they are picking up the phone now.

Today is saturday already, hope you will get through this soon Faithhope. Best of luck.

Faithhope 9, I had written to gradadmission yesterday explaining the issue, I just got a reply back stating this has happened inadvertently happened with those who were given two offers. They admitted that my response was received earlier also. So do not worry, you should also be getting an acknowledgment soon.
Posted Apr 24, 2010 11:30
Although, gradadmission's reply doesn't explain why same was placed in similar issue. But, with all of us being sorted out (atleast al on blog), I guess all's well.
Posted Apr 24, 2010 18:04
I got the confirmation as well. Thank God for that! A mail saying that the reminder was for IBL. Thanks for your suppport, all you guys out there.
Aside Samd, special thanks for your offer to specially sot it out for me in case it didn't work out.

Hello everyone, after going through this conversation, I was also worried about the same issue and mailed NUS. This afternoon received an email confirming that my acceptance acknowledgement was duly received by them. Thats such a relief! Thanks to NUS for their all time cooperative attitude. They have stated the same reasoning as they did to Daishonin i.e. the confusion occured due to many applicants were accepted for two porgrammes and the ultimatum was for the one which an applicant chose not to opt. Though i guess the situation was a little different for Samd. However, I am glad that things are sorted for all of us. I would like to thank all of you for being so supportive and helpful to each other. And of course thanks to Samd who brought up this substance and offered help to sort things out for others.

dear all, now that the initial euphoria has setelled down, let me, does any one know how the recruitments are, this year? 17k is a big sum of money and i really need to think hard before spending it. what has been the historical recruitment scene? any one can shed light?
Posted Apr 27, 2010 06:07
Even I have been thinking about the same thing, not to say the accomodation/ food/ living expenses etc. which make the total a big sum. I haven't heard very good reports as such about the job scene. As far as I am aware, there is no recruitment as such, there is only a job fair in which you can fix up interviews for yourself. But, my knowledge in this respect, inspite of several efforts in this direction, is woefully limited. I guess two years back, people did use to get jobs there, but recently it's been quite sad. Lke samd, would request people who have better information to share it with us.

A lot depends on the fact as to which country do you belong to.Also the work experience would be relevant. If a recruiter needs a fresher, an LLB would be a better buy. I think they will be on a lookout for associates who can do their non-singapore work, i.e requirement can be for country specific desks.Previous recruitment (except the recession time) 80% of the Indian and chinese students have found jobs in Singapore... . With regard to expenses, I have seen quite a few no. of frnds going to US without significant scholarships, so relatively the assurance can be soothing as these days there is no job guarantee even after an LLM from a Law school in US. The NUS LLM is handmade for an asian lawyer, and the experience can be fruitful.

true enough, both in the UK and the US, the expenses are actually huge, compared to which NUS is fine, while most Indians at least come back without a job.

Dear All,
My name is Maydiba, I'm from Indonesia and get accepted in IBL program.
I'm wondering if any of you (who's accepted in IBL) have received the "second email"?
ps. for the first email I only got an "out of office auto replay". is that a sign of a problem?
Regards.. ^^

Maydiba, the second mail was sent to those who didn't accept the offer, made in last week of march. So if you have accepted the course and not received the "second mail", its perfectly fine. Intact, it means your acceptance is duly recvd by them. Lastly, any mail sent to grad admission email I'd would received out of office, as that is automated.

Hi Daishonin,
thank you very much for the replay.. ^^
actually what I meant by the "second email" was email on the official Acceptance Form and information on the Student's Pass Online Application as mentioned in the first email I got from NUS. any news on this?
Regards..
