I am doing my Law with CS,and students in my college do either MBL or CS,while some do basic diploma courses while others (a huge percentile) do tympass,I have heard from ppl who do MBL that it is a seperate type course by itself and requires huge time and energy and is not advisable to be combined with CS.

Hi,
I am a graduate of IIM Ahmedabad and am currently working in an investment bank
I was interested in pursuing this course since my job requires me to have knowledge of securities regulations, M&A regulations, and the regulatory aspects of QIPs, IPOs and so on.
So from the perspective of the course curriculum can someone please advise if i should go for this course or not.
Thanks a lot.

hello friends,
I am arvind mahor,
this is my first post to this thread.
I think this is the proper place to ask my queries and doubts regarding MBL course at NLSUI bangalore.
Actually I am planning to do this course.
but before that I need your help.........
( seeks reply ...thanks in advance)
Actually I have done B.Tech(engineering) from NIT Jaipur ( National Institute of Technology--- deemed university) in computer engineering in 2006, since then I am working with a software company in b'lore, so almost 4 years of exp, but unfortunately I am no more interested in this field.
So decided to do MBA , so this year I am taking admission at IIT Kanpur for full time 2-years MBA course. That I will be joining in july.
Now the real confusion is that I want to do MBL parallel to my MBA course, so will be able to finish both together.
But I want to know ,
-how much MBL will be beneficial to me?
-will it really help me in boosting my career prospects ?
- can I manage it with my MBA at IIT Kanpur?
-will it add any extra weight to my qualification that help me in future. ?
-how much I would have to devote per day, so it wont affect my MBA study negatively.
hope you guys will reply...........
I m really curious for this course
so pls reply sincerely ......
if possible then pls give phone and email contacts....
I m sending mine
thanks and regards

I have been studying the contracts law material for the June exam. There are a few chapters which deal with societal evolution of contracts and economies etc. These seem to be purely theoretical chapters for a historical perspective. Is it enough to just read these chapters. Will there be any questioning on these topics in the exams?

As an investment banker, you'll be better off spending that time with the head of your legal department or working closely with law firms engaged in placing an issue.

Hi, Good day to all. As I was going through the discussion boards normally, i found this thread interesting and thought I should reply to some of the posts atleast as these are related to one's career.
As advised by the earlier poster jsd, it would suit your requirement and you will be benefited by this program. However, my serious advise would be to look for some lighter diploma or PG diploma in securities laws /capital markets regulation instead of MBL. MBL is a very extensive program with in depth legal knowledge not only on securities laws but it also covers wholesome of other laws which you don't need at all. Best of luck.
I also want to answer some of the earlier posts by 'adthelegend' and 'SIMMEE'.
Mr. legend, as I understand you had Btech and now going to pursue your MBA from a reputed institution, right! So, I am enable to understand why you want to unneccesarily burden yourself with MBL also. My serious advise would be to first concentrate on your MBA and finish it off. After that have some work experience and then decide whether your job profile and future career plans really want you to do MBL. THen if you still interestered in this program you can do this program. As you already have Btech, MBA is more important and your career deciding factor. The purpose of MBL is mainly for one's legal knowledgement enrichment and don't help you to shift / decide your career. Hope this will clarify your doubts.
Mr./Mrs. SIMEE, Congractulations for enrolling for CS. Before deciding to go for MBL, please see the curriculum of MBL and compare the same with CS. TO the extent I know most of the subjects in MBL are also part of the CS program. So, why do you want to go for MBL at this moment. Ofcourse, this is entirely depends on one's personal choice to whether to go for a particular program or not. THis is only my opinion which may help you in taking appropriate decision. In my view, all those who are alredy doing their CS, no need to go for MBL, that too parallally with CS. CS is a wider & wonderful course with brighter career oppotunities and is also very tough to complete. So, please concentrate on CS first and finish it up and then if you are interested then you can enroll for MBL. This advise is not only for you for also all those people who had this idea of mixing CS with MBL. MBL is meant for those with substantial work experience and whose job profiles requires some legal knowledge to excel in their areas of work and certainly not for freshers. (My personal opinion only)
Hope my views will help at least to somebody.
Thanks

my first post
actually today only i enrolled for MBL ( distance learning)
i am an engineer from NIT working with an MNC from last five years.
my basic work is in Power projects and at later stage of my career i could be in project management n tendering bidding n all.........
one of my friend who is doing MBA from a reputed institute told me about that course few months back so i enrolled after consulting with my senior who is engineer cum lawyer in my company ( legal advisor IPR) .
So the new path starts ......my few queries:------
will the NSL provide enough material to pass this course in first attempt?
what type of examinations it would be ( Objective /subjective on line ) ?
apart from exams would there be any projects/ assignments etc. to be completed to get the degree?
any website any forum to discuss more ?
any group in NCR i am in Noida ......any books
looking for replies....

Hi Mr. Garg,
You will find answers to most of your questions in the prospectus (hand book). You just need to wait until you receive it through courier. Alternatively, you may also browse the website of NLSIU for details:
www.nls.ac.in
Study material is provided by the institute for reading. Old question papers are also provided along with study material in the same courier, for your reference. I am afraid, exams are only conducted at NLSIU campus, Bangalore. There are no online exams conducted for this course. Projects and assignments are a part of the curriculum. You may try for MBL groups on social networking websites (I have come across many on Orkut).
How much you may want to read on a particular topic relies upon an individual. If you are able to understand and connect with the information provided in the study material, it may suffice or vice versa. However, whenever a person is doing professional courses, a lot of reading is definitely a part of it. I am a law graduate, and have always referred many books for all topics. So, the best thing for you would be to make short notes, as you are reading on topics (you may also browse internet to find information on any topic). These notes can be very handy just before the exams.
Good luck!

hello "LEGALINDIA"
Thanks for guiding me. However, I have already enrolled for MBL. I know cs is difficult to crack, so does MBL. I have enrolled in two courses parallely thinking that I can have two degrees giving single effort! I have gone through the MBL syllabi and have found almost all the papers to be common with cs programme. Actually, I dont want to waste academic years reading the same thing twice.
Nonetheless, Thanks a lot for your valuble opinion. please keep posting and replyin threads.
Lookin forward to get more help from you in the future. Regards

Hi RIMEE, How are you?
Congrats for enrolling for both. In this case my advise would be to concentrate more on CS and try to finish it as early as possible as it is the career deciding facor. If you are already working, then perhaps it doesn't matter, which you finish first. There is one site CACLUBINDIA where you can find lot of stuf useful for CS exams and also you can be in touch with lot of other professionals who are current students or those who already finished their CS, CA etc and you can get number of advises, preperation tips, material etc. There are also other sites for CS but this is the most useful site for the students like you. GOODLUCK.

Hi everyone,
I've tried every other site but my question still remains unanswered. Hoping someone here can help me out.
I've done my bachelors in business administration and currently working now. I want to do the MBL from NLSIU as the subjects covered are very interesting but got few doubts.
Firstly, I don't have a degree in law, and companies are always looking for people with an LLB or LLM (or so i have found in the job sites), so where do I land up with an MBL plus BBA?
Secondly, does anyone know where these MBL passouts get placed? What are the career options?
thanks
natasha

In my personal view, MBL does not help you to secure good placement, it can only add value to your CV however it cannot be sole criteria for getting good placement. MBL can be done by non-law graduates also. My advise would be first you have to complete MBA, have some work experience and then if you are interested you can happily pursue MBL. If I am right, MBL directly after BBA is not going to help you in any way. (again its my personal veiw only).
