My opinion: Yale - not important, HLS & NYU - important. 1-2 years of work experience should be enought, I guess.

I know people who were accepted to HLS, NYU and CLS without any work experience (except for short internships).

Not important for HLS. There are people who were 20-22 in Fall there this year.

Well, I believe that it is not strictly necessary but it of course helps. At least here in HLS.

Here at NYU it is not strictly necessary - I have colleagues that came here straight from law school - but I guess work experience is a plus (specially if you will be looking for a job after completion of the LLM).

I guess if you have the grades, work experience and age don't matter. But if not, then work experience enters into account. For CLS I was admitted although I am only 22 and on my final year in France (master2), having done only short term internships in summer.
