i got through Upenn on 22nd Jan and to Columbia on Jan 30th I was on a wait list last year with Penn and Columbia rejected me. It was a painful process to apply again .. but worthwhile .
I am sorry for those who got rejections but do apply again.. Its worth it !! I am not going to take Penn so I hope a waitlisted applicant cant get a way !!

Sounds like your one more year shows impressive improvements in your credential.

Seanlee
Thank you . I believe it worked out for good . I was top 2 % academically when i applied last year, but did not have work ex.
So I worked at a law firm for a year and reapplied. Thankfully it worked. What is the status of your apps ?

elelem,
I am still waiting for "good" news from Penn. I was admitted to Cornell and Duke, but Penn is more attractive to me. Thanks.

got waitlisted minutes ago... :(
Dear XXX:
I am writing to inform you, on behalf of the Graduate and International Programs Committee, that you have been placed on the Wait List for Penn Law's LL.M. class of 2009-2010.
I regret not being able to provide a more definitive response to your candidacy at this time. You should know that the Committee reviewed over 1100 applications for about 90 places in this year's class. Your credentials within this group are strong, but do not permit us to take further action until we hear back from some of those who have already been offered a place. In this sense, the Committee's decision necessarily reflects the limitations of space as much as an assessment of your academic achievement and potential.
Based on past experience, the Law School will begin to make offers of admission to waitlisted candidates in April and then continue through the following months. We are neither able to estimate how many offers will be made nor elaborate on your position relative to others on the list. We will, however, inform you as soon the class has been closed.
My colleagues and I appreciate your patience throughout this process, as well as your interest in Penn Law, we understand however if you are not able to continue to leave your plans undecided at this point. If you wish to withdraw your name from further consideration, please visit us at the web address below:

Best wishes.

Just received an offer!! Btw applied on Feb 1, not received "application complete" e-mail and sent my last recommendation letter by regular courier on Jan 30. So I'm quite surprised to receive the decision so early. Anyway congragulations to all admitted!

Well I knew I wouldn't get admitted everywhere, I'm coming right from law school :)
Admitted to Duke, UCL, King's and LSE until now.
Hope to get admitted to Oxford or an other US law school to easen my choice.
Hey! Santa,
LSE, is very good....I personally think you must choose LSE unless u get in the top 5-7 schools in US. Reputation of LSE is very good...
Good luck to you all!

Yes :-)
The e-mail also says "as an admitted student you are eligible to apply for the Wharton Business and Law Certificate ..." although as far as I'm concerned, I don't have the required 3 years of work experience...

1100 applicants? Am I the only one in shock? Is this normal? I mean for UPenn...even thoug its in the ivy league this seems to be a very high amount of applicants for 90 seats.
