Andy, could you perhaps be a little more elaborate on the "down to earth" reaction? I know Penn doesn't have a very great fin aid reputation so it would be interesting to sort of see how they approach the matter.
With or without money I am sure the LLM class will have many lovely wine nights - even with the $3 bottles of wine ;)

For sure:
Here is the email:
"Hi, unfortunately the Law School has very limited financial resources available for scholarships for LLM candidates. There is nothing you need do further as far as applying for financial aid as all applicants are considered for financial assistance on a merit basis.
There are a number of factors that are considered when reviewing applications, including each applicant's level of academic achievement and professional experience, however, you should be aware that there is a high degree of competition for financial assistance among admitted applicants .
We plan to make financial assistance determinations over the next few weeks, however, the process may last well into the month of April. At this point it is not possible to predict how the limited financial assistance available will be distributed, however, you will certainly be considered as a candidate for whatever financial assistance is available.
Best wishes".

Thanks a lot for sharing! Well, it sounds pretty standarized to me, certainly shouldn't put you down! My guess is that since they barely yesterday finalized all offers they probably are not even close to finalizing financial aid decisions. And yes, Penn like I said before is not notorious for its financial aid but let's all keep our hopes up and our fingers crossed :)

hello everyone~
I've seen lots of great responses of approving of admisstion. Congrads!
However, I felt frustrated cause I received their letter of information of "on the wait list"....
I am just wondering how long does it take to receive further decision? or...this decision is a kind of "consolation"??
anyway, congratulations to oyu all!

Some posts above :
By the way, for the waitlist people (including me) :
From what I've seen in this board (I've searched in the previous years posts)
==> admissions for waitlisted come in May (early May and mid-May)
==> rejections in June
;)

Heyo everybody,
Good to see that we are such an active community already :) I'll bring a bottle of German wine, hehe. Btw, I declined my offers for Cornell and Georgetown last week, now waiting to hear back from Harvard, Columbia and Stanford.... but not too confident there ;) guess I'll (have to) stick with Penn... could have been worse, hehe. Can't wait to get to Philly, UPenn seems to be an amazing law school, even though I sure would love to finally get the admission package with more infos (here GULC and Cornell did a better job)... but Penn is hard to beat when it comes to academics :)... btw, I thought we could still choose to attend Wharton when we get there for the summer program... so I believe we don't have to decide just yet... personally fin aid is gonna make the difference for me, won't be able to afford the extra 10k tuition on top otherwise... all the best to you all and can't wait to meet up in person. God bless,
RH

Hey guys,
Among those who are admitted, did anyone receive a package from Penn yet?
Good luck to all!

I haven't received mine yet. We should probably expect it next week!

Nope, waiting anxiously, especially for the scholarship decisions hopefully included in the package. I hope the statement by Matthew Parker regarding decisions lasting into April (e-mail referenced above) was only to be on the safe side time-wise. Other deadlines are approaching quickly...
Posted Mar 11, 2011 15:01
No package here either. My logic tells me that the "decisions can last until April" statement is probably to cover those cases where the grantee will turn down a scholarship for one or another reason. In that case funds would become available on/after April 1st in which case they would have to be redistributed. But I do believe/hope the main wave of financial aid decisions will come before April 1st. Fingers crossed!

Don't stress about applying to Wharton, I was unsure, didn't apply until after I got to Penn in August, and still got in. If you are sure however, I would recommend applying asap.

The deadline is March 15!
I am applying for the waiver of the 3 year requirement (as my interships and other "odd" jobs kind-of-sort-of add up). Any tips?

Just write up any job experience you had, they are pretty lenient when it comes to law students. The deadline is by no means a final deadline, but if you need to know early.

I have been waitlisted at Upenn, but i'm interested by the Wharton certificate.
Wharton's deadline is March 15, but Upenn send offers of admissions to waitlisted applicants between April and May
Do you think we still may be able to apply to Wharton at that time ?

I read in a post that people have applied to the Wharton program even in August and got in. I'm sorry I couldn't find it swiftly enough to link it.

Ditto, read the same thing through the board. I'm not interested in pursuing the certificate but why doesn't one who is just email the admissions office and ask? Logic says you should be able to apply for it within the summer program but if you want to be safe you might as well ask. They are very kind and prompt in their communication at Penn's admissions office so it couldn't hurt, right?

Hey guys!
I got an offer on Tuesday too! Only just discovered this entire website though - pretty epic! Really cool to see other people who got in as well!
I guess we have to wait ages to hear about financial aid?
Oh and does anyone who hasn't graduated yet know if it's an open offer, or if it is conditional on graduating with certain honours etc? My email didn't really say...

On the website, it says that you can apply even in the summer but deadline (March 15) is merely to get a response (of acceptance to the program or not) by April 1.
