Hello,
I was admitted to the UF program and was wondering if anyone here has been through it or is planning to attend for the 2010-2011 year. I have never been to Gainsville & have heard it is a very good program, but any additional info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello!
I've been admitted as well and plan to attend. I'm glad to see a posting finally about the UF program! Sorry, though, I don't really have any more information - just that's it's a great program, a lot of work and that Gainesville is a great place to study for a year.

Although I won't be attending UF's program, I have been to Gainesville - actually, I was there in last December.
The tax LL.M. certainly is outstanding. Moreover, Gainesville seems to be a great place to live and study.
Let me know if you need any information regarding the town, since I did some research before making my decision on which university to attend.
I also have a friend who is enrolled for the intl tax LL.M. program next fall, he'll probably show up in the coming days.

I was admitted too and Gainesville is indeed a wonderful town. Its not as isolated as most people would believe and a great community. If you're not use to humidity, the temp. will be at its worst when you arrive, but don't forget you will have great weather throughout the winter months. Furthermore, renting just north of the law school is quite affordable and you can easily ride a bike all around town.

I'm admitted and attending UF [Domestic] Tax LLM 2010-11. I haven't been to Gainesville, though, so I'd appreciate info about it, too.

I was wondering if anyone who frequents this website has applied to UF's LLM Tax Program for next Fall 2011. And, if so, have you received any response yet? I applied late September and was hoping they'd let me know sooner because of applying so early.

I sent my application yesterday.

Atara, I followed your thread "re tax llm" here. I also complete my application by the end of 2010. But there is no feedback from UF Int'l Tax Prog. after two email queries, even no acknowledgement that my application is complete...
A bit annoying...

I never received notice that my application was complete (I mailed everything off in November) either. I didn't know it was complete until I received my decision a month later in the mail (it was the domestic tax program, not the international tax program).
Have you tried calling them? I called them once about application questions and they were very friendly and helpful on the phone. If you can catch them when they're not busy, perhaps that's the way to go.

Hi blobby, many thanks! and congrats~ to you! \(^o^)/ A phone call might be the most efficient way... Before I call them tomorrow, I have to figure out the time difference first... same as NY time, -13hrs from GMT+8

It took a good 6-8 weeks for apps to get reviewed last year and some people in my class didn't find out until the last month before classes.
There is a lot going on in the program right now in our first few weeks of classes, but the best thing to do is directly call the office if you have a request. That was how I got in touch with them last year to find out about acceptance.

So when do you think application decisions will start to be sent out?
Posted Feb 10, 2011 19:30
I just received my acceptance letter in the mail. Curiously it is dated February 3. I am still awaiting GULC and NYU.
Posted Feb 14, 2011 20:53
Anyone else know if he/she got accepted?
Posted Feb 14, 2011 20:55
I haven't heard anything.
At this point, I'd say UF is at a pretty strong disadvantage since I've heard from GULC and NYU. I've had time to get used to the idea of those schools.

Yes, I am pretty irritated by this too. Initially when I spoke with the Graduate Tax Program the assistant told me that the program would reach decisions WAY before undergraduate admissions. (UF Undergrad Admissions released that they weren't going to arrive at any applicant decisions until the 15th of February. My cousin just found out yesterday about his undergrad application.)

I have heard from every other school except UF. However, it's a top 3 school that is a fraction of the cost of the other two top 3 schools. I think it is probably worth the wait to really know all the options. :-)

I just found out that I probably qualify for the Academic Common Market program since I am from Kentucky and we don't have a Tax LL.M program nearby. So I believe I am going to get tuition cut in half. Will make decision tougher if I get in either.NYU or GULC. But a windfall it seems.

I have been accepted into GULC, and I am still waiting on NYU and UF. I called UF today and they stated that decisions will most likely start coming out around March 1st. They specifically stated "the admissions committee does NOT meet on a regular basis and it will not meet to review applications for at leat another 1-2 weeks". It seems the committee looks at applications in batches.
