Hi all,
I'm an Irish student thinking of doing an LLM in the US for the year 07/08. What I'm trying to find out is whether I would have to spend the summer of 08 in the US or whether it is usual for an LLM course to finish up around May/June. In Ireland and in the UK it is common in most LLMs that you must submit a thesis which you write over the summer and hand in around September.

In particular I am looking for info on Yale, Harvard, Chicago and NYU (but info on any others would be great). Thanks!

hey - I'm Irish too, heading to NYU this fall. Not sure about Harvard but as far as I know in NYU everything has to be finished up by the end of May. no doing your thesis over the summer I'm afraid. and I have two weeks to decide if I want to do it (we've already picked our first semester classes, and now have to pick semester 2). Too much pressure! and so hard to tell at this stage....

I'm Scottish. Going to study at Harvard in August. Harvard is the same as NYU - everything is finished by the end of May and students graduate in June. You either have to write a long paper (100 pages) or short paper (25 pages) and both have to be handed in by May (or earlier) I believe.
