Hi,
I am a first time poster. I am 6 months out of law school and have been doing international tax work for a small firm. I have started considering a tax LLM and would like to complete the E-LLM program in NYU or Georgetown porbably starting in Fall 2017. I f I cannot get into one of those top programs, I would probably go to UM as it is local. I have the following questions:
1. Is the E-LLM as well regarded as the regular LLM at NYU & G-town? Is a different degree actually awarded or is it the same degree?
2. What do the more experienced members regard my chances for the top programs with the following stats:
i. Graduated top 5% in a low T2/high T3 lawschool.
ii. Finance undergrad ( 3.5+ GPA)
iii. Grades: Income Tax: A-; Estate and Gift Tax: A (book award); Bankruptcy: A; Business Orgs.: A (book award); Mergers and Acquisitions:A (book award).
iv. Experience: 5 years in Corporate Finance; around one year in international tax law (by the time I apply).
Thanks in advance.

The degree itself is the same. You get an LLM in taxation -- no where on your diploma or transcript will it say "executive". I specifically asked the adcoms this.
With your stats, I'd say you're almost definitely in. Both at NYU and Georgetown. I'd be shocked if you aren't also offered a scholarship from Georgetown.
Good job in law school and good luck with your applications!
