What do they usually ask during the call? Also, if you miss their call, will they call you again or they just send out a decision after that?

Chamberling, I am fine and my family is fine as well. Thank you. The number of casualties and missing people (approximately 10,000) living close to epicenter is still increasing everyday. My biggest concern is that two nuclear power plants got broken by the quake. Some has benn exposed to radiation. They started evacuating to somewhere else 20 kilos away from the plants. So terrible.

@lilijane, thanks for your message, I am doing fine and my family too, but the situation is devastating in the northern area. I am anxiously watching the news on rescue and recovery, and hope so much that things will get better soon!

Does anyone know how much we should prepare for the LLM year in Stanford?
Is the LLM program worth of it?

For those who got phone calls - did they come out of the blue or did you get an e-mail heads-up? I got rejected from Columbia and Wait Listed at Berkeley so I know Stanford is a long shot, but here's hoping!
Also, anyone with news re: IELB?

@ lilvivian: I read in a Blog that they were going to increase tuition by 5.75% this year, so the total (tuition + living expenses) will be more than 70k (I can give exact figure from admission papers if required). It is obviously more if you bring along your partner and kids. JDs are apparently furious because it's higher than other faculties.

SPILS candidates are in principle eligible for financial aid (needs based) so you fill in the papers and send them to see what happens (a make or break issue for somebody with a family!). They do not offer scholarships upfront like other schools.
@ akitz: no. No warning whatsoever. So make sure you are available!

Congratulations to the admitted ones.
So far the best admission I got is from University of Chicago. I am still waiting decision from Stanford.
I applied for the IELBP program. For those who got phone calls, could you give me some clue about what kind of questions the interviewer asked? Many thanks.

The new overall figure for Stanford's LLM is "at least $74,982". Just out of curiosity, how are you all planning to finance your eventual enrollment? Scholarships? Loans? Law firm paying? Savings?
Posted Mar 15, 2011 08:45
loans and savings.......
Posted Mar 15, 2011 09:09
just received my admissions package. tuition is a little more than 47000 USD. total cost is $74982. HUGE amount. Right now, I am in the process of applying for scholarships which are few and far between - esp gift scholarships. Many of them are loan scholarships.
Next resort is bank loans. Savings are but just a drop in the huge bucket. makes little difference.
Which is why I am considering deferral so that I can save some amount over the year. but from what I read, Stanford doesn't allow deferrals. Keeping fingers crossed...
