Stanford - Admissions thread

Aky

Someone has said last year that after a phone interview, it's a 50/50 call.
Who knows, maybe he's right !

And to explain why it takes some days to notify admissions, Faye Deal (from the office of admission) has said on her blog (on February 24th) : "The class is not full. Decisions are going out fairly regularly although not daily. Im making some calls later this morning and hopefully will be making some tomorrow as well."

She was talking about the JD class, but maybe it's the same for LLM applicants

Do you mean 50 percent candidates will get a call? Or 50 percent of whom get the phone interviews will be waitlisted or declined after the phone interview?

Ps: any one from china?

I guess what Aky was trying to say is that only 1 out of 2 will get admitted to SLS after telepphone interview. And I have a strong feeling that it makes sense. But it is just a feeling...without any logical reasoning.

So, they may be doing a program per week.

Does anybody know what the deferral policy is?

hi Oldtimer. I left a msg in your mailbox. Congrats to your admission!

Hi I think putou is right that 50/50 means only 50%of people who were called were admitted. I'm from china I'm speculating this forum to make a decision next year. What abt you?

thx for your explanation.

I got a call from Stanford, but I felt very terrible about the interview. I am afraid I will not get its offer.

Sigh~~~, Stanford is my favorite.

Anyway, good luck! What programs are you applying for? I'm studying in the States already. so I'm thinking of an advanced degree.

One quick question to the telephone calls.. what happens if they don´t reach you? I indicated only my cell phone number which is currently inactive because I´m working for three months abroad.

This is the answer I got with respect to deferrals:

"We do not allow deferrals to our international programs. Our SPILS class is, by design, a very small one. As such, our philosophy has been one where we do not encourage nor do we allow the option to postpone enrollment into the next year's class, as that would diminish the already very limited offers that can be made. If a student is unable to make the commitment to enroll this year, the option to reapply, when the commitment can be readily and easily made, is available."

It's going to be a loooong month...

I guess we're next
They've done SPILS, LST, and now I hope us !

Last year they began with Corporate Governance, not this year... :/

I am also waitlisted. Anyway, I have expected that LST is a highly competitive program, especially because of its limited size...
