size of an LL.M. class

Just need your advice: I was admitted, in particular, to NYU and Michigan. I know that NYU is slightly higher in rankings, but they have 200 or 400 (according to the posts in this forum) students in their LL.M. program, whereas at Michigan we are about 35-40. Do you think the number of students is important? I can't help thinking that you'll benefit more from your studies when the professors know you and you can get personnalized advice.. What do you think about it?

Hello,
As far as I'm concerned, I agree with you, but well, there are probably people who prefer big classes.

At least, in Switzerland, most Professors consider NYU as an LLM factory. Don't bother too much about the rankings (remember that they are intended for JD Students, not for LLM). I also think that you will benefit more in a small LLM class (such as Michigan, Yale, Stanford or Chicago) than a huge one (such as Harvard or NYU). Have also a look at the classes and Professors to see whether the curriculum suits you.

I agree that in most of the cases a smaller LL.M. might be better, however, you should check that you will be able to take the same courses the JDs take. That also makes a huge difference!

Hi GLM,

I've also applied to Michigan. When did you receive your admission email?
