Penn vs. NYU

How do these two schools compare for the LLM?

What is the acceptance rate of each?

NYU's programme is considered better and more prestigious, as well as more difficult to get in. I don't know about the various acceptance rates, try the schools' websites.

Overall, NYU is more prestigious, but they're both great schools. Nevertheless, NYU's LL.M. programme has 450 spots to Penn's 90, so I'm not sure NYU is harder to get into. Does NYU get more than 5 times as many applications as Penn? If not, and assuming the applicant pools are of comparable quality, I'd say Penn is harder to get into (for the LL.M. programme, but definitely not for the J.D. degree).

another thing to consider is the physical location: NYU's campus is MUCH nicer than Penn's, which was possibly the ugliest law school I have ever visited. Greenwich Village is also infinitely preferable to Philadelphia...

can't argue with that!

The location definitely being an important factor I do not believe that NYU is better from an academical point of view. U Penn has a huge reputation in the US. At U Penn you have Wharton School - which offers one of the best MBA's worldwide - where you can visit some classes. If you want to do a good corporate law program then U Penn is your pick. If you want to do a general LLM and have a good time then it would be NYU.

Hey guys,

I was accepted to UPENN last year but deferred for 2011-2012. However, I would like to apply to NYU for International Busines Regulation, Litigation and Arbitration LLM.

I always wanted to specialize in corporate, securities, but also International business. I am currently doing the NYB Bar and intend to eventually practice in New York city!

If I get accepted at NYU, should I accept it or go to UPENN?

I would be grateful for any thoughts??

Many thanks!
