Hi all, I've got the admissions from Penn Law and some other top 14 schools. I didn't apply to the top5 law schools as I didn't take the TOEFL exam and for the top5 schools the T score is amust....Regreting...
So the highest ranking law school I can be accepted to shall be Penn or Berkeley. Although I don't get any news from Berkeley by now and maybe the earliest time I can heard the news shall be early March, I'd like to seek your comments for the two law schools. As for me, I really prefer Berkeley for its location and warm climate... I hate cold winter ...Meanwhile, my prior experiences mainly focus on capital market rather than IP laws, so I wonder if Penn is a better choice...
Thanks in advance:)

sorry to disagree, but berkeley is definitively more important than Penn for IPRs. you should go to Penn if interested in business and/or corporate law. I've been visiting their campus some months ago, and I can truly tell you that the setting and environment are both great. best of luck!

I will choose Berkley without a second thought, not only because is better ranked, but also because of its enviroment (students are smart but relaxed and not competitive among each other, parties, trips to L.A., Las Vegas etc.), wheather, proximity to San Francisco etc.
In addition, the quality of life in Berkeley is a lot better than in UPenn.

I cant speak for Harvard, Yale and Stanford as I didnt apply to them but definitely there is no need to take TOEFL for NYU and Columbia as ...they certainly waive the Toefl requirement like other schools if you give them substantial proof, that your education was entirely in English....and certainly Columbia and NYU are among the Top 5. Further, all the schools, sends a written communication granting/rejecting a TOEFL waiver to the candidates who seek one a waiver. So one also has a substantial proof that waiver is granted.
Trust me, I was given a waiver by the two top 5 schools that I applied to...I couldnt make it to one but the other is still awaited.
It was only Chicago and Virgina..from which didnt get a TOEFL waiver, rest all the univs ...gave..though I applied only to some and not to all.
Hope this clarifies ...the stance of universities on TOEFL waiver..Guys, its also TOP 5 which grants TOEFL waiver and not just universities ranking from 5 onwards...

Sorry for any misleading words. I think it is possible for the top 5 law schools to grant a TOEFL waiver, as you mentioned, from the prior threads or their own website. However, my question is that I am not qualified for their waiver requests, such as education in an Englsih-speaking enviroment etc.. Since I only got the IELTS score, I wanted to know if it is acceptable and the answer is not either from email communications or from their website.. So I should correct my statement as the top 5 law schools generally don't accept the IELTS score instead of TOEFL.. Is it correct:)?
However, good news for the applicants is that some top 14 schools truely accept IELTS based on my experiences, such as Upenn, GULC and Duke etc..
Anyway, thanks Xdude and thanks for any comments here.
Best of luck to all.
