NYU specialisations

NZ Girl

Hi

Does anyone know if it is possible to change one's specialisation subsequent to submitting an application for admission to NYU's LLM? I specified one but think in retrospect that it may be better for me to do the Traditional LLM, which will give me greater flexibiltity with course selection.

Just to be clear - I have not actually heard back from NYU (other than the application complete email).

Thanks!

I have the same question.
I applied for a traditional LLM for the flexibility purpose but am now thinking a specialisation maight be more "visible" on my resume...

Would be great to have an answer! Thanks.

From previous threads which I have just discovered, it appears that it may be possible, subsequent to accepting an offer of admission, to submit an application to NYU requesting a change. See Awojc's post on Wednesday 7 April 2010: http://www.llm-guide.com/board/82311/2#post-87204. That person wished to change from the general LLM to the International Business Regulation, Litigation and Arbitration specialisation.

Personally, I think the best course of action is to wait to hear back from NYU. If offered a place and it is accepted, I think that's the right time to approach them and request to switch specialisations. Given previous discussion, it sounds like this may be a relatively common request.

I want to share that I've asked their team if I can change my specialisation after admitted. The officer respondedd that an admitted student who wishes to change their program after the start of semester needs to seek approval from the Office of Graduate Affairs. And they advised me to check their 'Change of Program' in their website. They did give me the link but the page is not available. Here's the link I received >>>
