Hi Everyone, hope you are fine and enjoying the NYU@NUS programme.
Just writing to ask everyone how you find the programme, classes, teachers, accomodation and atmosphere in general.
Let me tell you a little bit about mysefl. I'm an argentinean lawyer, working in a top law firm based in Buenos Aires (www.brons.com.ar), and planning to do a LLM next year. The NYU@NUS fits perfect for me for many reasons, but I need to ask you if it really worth it, taking into account the fees they charge, and how difficult is to get a scholarship.
Another thing I was wondering is about the average age and years of experience of the class. I will be 32 and with almost 9/10 years of experience, so I wouldn't like to feel the "grandpa" of the class.
The last question is about job opportunities. Does any of you start to look for a part-time job during your classes? How difficult is getting one there?
Well, again, hope you are enjoying a lot your experience in Singapore, looking forward to hearing from you,
Cheers,
Francisco

Hello,
How are you guys doing? Is a 2:1 from a reputed university sufficient to secure admission at NYU@NUS? Also, can I submit my IELTS results if I have not taken the TOEFL.
Which firms do NYU@NUS graduates work for in Singapore?
I would highly appreciate your answers to these questions.

I have a question similar to the one posted above. How important are class ranks in determining admission to the program?
While my aggregate in law school touches 70 %, the class rank isn't all that great because each of the ranks is separated by minute percentage points.
Reply is much appreciated.

Class rank / GPA is ALWAYS a key factor

Hawkme, I do agree to what you're saying. But, take for illustration this situation:
GPA: 5.5/7
Class Rank: 54/160
Reasoning: Between 5.5 and 6.0, there are 40 odd people separated by percentage points of about 3-5 %.
The candidate cannot be solely discarded by class rank alone in this case. How objective would the law school be in assessing the batch and the score sheet before coming to a conclusion?
While an obvious answer would be that they wouldn't go into details apart from the ranking sheet. Yet, somehow, given how detailed the application process is, it's hard to believe that they would be superficial in their assessment.
P.S. The above hypothetical situation isn't necessarily mine.

Hi! In case anyone who got into the 2012/2013 class still follows this thread, your comments would be highly appreciated on the following:
There is an update on the NYU@NUS page stating that the program will not be continued beyond the graduation '14 (http://www.law.nyu.edu/llmjsd/llmsingapore/faqs/index.htm#Whatarethedatesoftheprogram). Some ppl who have received a letter of admission now wonder how this news shed a different light on the prestige of the program and whether it is still recommendable.
If you find time, would you be so kind to give your 2 cents in the thread for 2013-2014 (http://www.llm-guide.com/board/118034/3)?
This would be very much obliged. Thanks in advance and have a good day.

Gregor and other NYU@NUS alumni,
Can you please throw some light on the profile of the previous batches LLM applicants' and how much impact that played in deciding their future prospects vis a vis securing employment based on grades obtained during the academic year at NYU@NUS?
i.e. Can securing excellent grades in the program give a shooting chance at decent employment or previous experience acts as an overriding or limiting factor?
