I think so. But I also think based on discussions I've read from previous years that it is possible to be bumped up from a Dean's Graduate Award to a Vanderbilt Scholarship (if some people with Vanderbilts turn down their offers).
Does any one else agree? Also does any one think it would be worth emailing NYU to find out how likely this bump up scenario is?

Another question: has anyone else received emails from faculty members? I suppose they are standard emails sent to all admitted candidates and a response is not expected..

Yes, i have received a few emails of this sort.
Indeed, they seem to inform about concentration areas that you flagged as "insterested" during your application.
