You should really consider if you want to go to NYU. There are other schools just as good for less overall cost. The only real reason I can see to going there is if you go for the Tax LLM. Or maybe you really want to go to school in New York City.
New York seems nice in the movies than it is in real life. If you love a place where you can almost never find a quiet place to yourself and you want to have people around you every minute, then maybe NYU is for you. Unless you have a very large amount of money to spend, I would look for another place. I am very well compensated, top 5% of the US, and it would be difficult for me to live there.
The average person in New York City spends about 60% of their salary on just renting (or buying) their place to live. This is just crazy so unless you come from a very wealthy family or your home country is paying your education and housing costs, I would say find some other place and save your money.
Of course it is your money but maybe there are better ways to spend it. At least if you go to Stanford, or UC Berkeley you can live in a truly beautiful area. New York City is not really that beautiful unless you like a bunch of buildings. The area around San Francisco is truly a beautiful area to live.

So my current status and decision rendered list has gone blank but my requirement list has not, any idea what this means??
Posted Mar 10, 2015 06:37
Admiited to Traditional llm. The theory about missing list is quite right. Mine went blank last Wed.Good luck to those who are waiting :)
Posted Mar 10, 2015 06:41
My requirement list has not gone blank but it has reduced (there are only 3 items on the list now: transcript, recommendation, TOEFL score). Initially there were more items as far as i remember. Any idea what that means?

I recieved a decision yesterday. Was admitted to Competition, Inovation and Information LL.M. (concentration on Competition).
Some words of encouragement for all, who are still waiting to be admitted. My requirements list never went blank (I recieved the e-mail while I was checking my status page and losing my nerves on why is my requirements list still there :)). On the other hand my requirements list always contained, as ssh_bangladesh's, only "3 items on the list [now]: transcript, recommendation, TOEFL score" and there has never been listed anything on my mailing list.
And some general information, since I know that some might be interested to know what are my credentials. I'm a foreign applicant (European), applied by the December 15 deadline (whereby my improved TOEFL scores were recieved by NYU on February 3). My transcripts were rated Above Avarage, I have 2,5 years of working experience in a top tier law firm and I had three, by my opinion strong, recommendations (two from university professors and one from a managing partner of our firm). TOEFL Score: 106.
Congrats to all admitted and fingers crosseed for all of you who are still waiting :)

Where do you find the transcript rating? I checked my LSAC but it only says AACRAO Status: Approved.. Any help please!
Posted Mar 10, 2015 10:43
In your LSAC (AACRAO) report, which has been transmitted to NYU (or to any other school you applied to). You can see the reports in "Apply" section (subsection "Law School Reports") of LSAC website.

Is "Above Average" good?
Posted Mar 10, 2015 10:56
Is "Above Average" good?
Obviously good enough :) "Superior" is a top grade, followed by "Above Avearage"..."Average"...and then there is one more level (lowest), probably Below Average (I'm not sure how is it named). However, I believe that NYU also has it own grading system (probably based on their past experievve with students from various univeristies).

You give me hope..:)...this wait is so nerve wracking....my first degree in law is from UK (the result isn't very good unfortunately) but i have two other degrees (a BBA and an MBA), where I got "superior" grades. Wondering whether law schools consider those degrees as well when evaluating.

Wow do they make offers at this time of the day? It's like 6:30am in New York!

What's the trend for candidates whose details went blank ages ago? Anyone in the know?? Thanks.
Posted Mar 10, 2015 14:34
Would you say that the end of this week closes the "normal" notification cycle, meaning whoever who has not been notified this week will most likely not be admitted unless through a waiting list?

Hey do you mean your mailing list and your "current status" and "current status date?"
These are all missing for me, but I still have my requirements list with 3 entries...
Any general advice from fellow friends about the above? I heard it means wait listed...

I think this was the case of everyone...
Am I wrong in assuming that no one has received an offer with the Dean's Graduate Award ?
