Hi everyone!
I was wondering how long does it actually take LSAC to process a letter of recommendation (counting from the day when the letter is actually delivered to them)? They are saying that this time period should not exceed 5 business days, but this might not be the case in a high season.
The same concerns the timing for running the transcript evaluation service. LSAC asserts it takes 2-3 weeks, but I assume it is a bit more in practice.
Looking forward to discussing your experience (or at least thoughts) on this.
LSAC - timing

My transcripts were evaluated in 1 day after it reached them. It was 2 days for the letters of recommendations. I got my transcripts evaluated way back in March and letter of recommendations in late September. So, I don't think it will take very long but yes as they are having high volume of work right now, it may take few more days.

LSAC is rather slow since start of November and getting worse as most deadlines approach:
One of my LoR's arrived at LSAC on 4 November 2011 (proof of receipt from courier service). On 14 November it was still not processed. As the deadline for the application the LoR was written for ended on 15 November, I wrote LSAC an e-mail and asked if they could please confirm that the LoR would be noted in the file as having arrived before the deadline so that the targeted law school would still consider it. The answer was rather disapointing: "Unfortunately we currently have a backlog of mail that is taking longer than usual to process." I answered that I did not care about the processing but only about the file stating that all documents had been received before the deadline. LSAC's answer: "Im sorry but that is not something we can do. It will reflect the date that it was processed into your account."
I had to make contact with the law school directly, attaching the correspondence with LSAC and a PDF of the courier confirmation, to sort things out.
Now I face the same issue with two letters which were received by LSAC in the first week of November and are still not processed.
Not really what I would call great customer service.

Frontal, would you mind telling me if your letters were in English or in some other language? I'm currently facing a similar issue so was just wondering if the delay was on account of translation? For a letter in English, I don't understand why LSAC would take so long to process!!
Thanks!
Thanks!

It took LSAC nearly a month to process one of my transcripts.

I applied for a JD initially and it took no more than a week for them to process. The other question is where it is coming from: within US -2 to 3 days, my first oficial transcript never made it here, I was waiting for a month or so, so make sure to call and just double check they have all your docs if it`s the case...

Hi Butterflies
All my LoR's have been drafted in English. So it is really just a matter of opening the envelope and scan the thing... It does not even need evaluating (as with transcripts). I told the respective referee to resend the letters directly to the Law Schools again and that I would pay for courier service. What a waste of money this LSAC is...
Cheers,
Frontal

NYU deadline is only on 15 december. If your stuff is processed by LSAC before, you should be good. If not, not.

@ Frontal - Completely agree! And they're most unresponsive. Might be too late for me to now request my referees to re-send the letter :( Just keeping fingers crossed that LSAC works out. I don't understand how they can take over 10 days to process a letter written in English! Thanks in any case!

For information:
One of the law schools I contacted re my LoR/LSAC problem (see earlier post) has answered that they will accept my recommender's re-sent LoR even if it will only arrive after the deadline, as long as the application itself was within the deadline. However, my recommender will have to send it to LSAC and not them directly.
So, every law school seems to have its own modus operandi.

For mine it took them over 5 weeks (last transcript was processed 9 November, law school report was ready on 19 December). However, they got 5 transcripts of different origin (law school, grad school, bar association, etc.). Thus, if you have less, they might be faster.
