Accettato a chicago e NYU, rigettato a HLS e waitlist a Upenn...
A proposito vengo dall'Università di Bologna

Ciao Ragazzi...Ho fatto domanda a NYU Columbia e Harvard.
A presto. Leonardo. Luiss Roma

Accettato a UVA e Cornell, rigettato a HLS, Berkeley e NUY, e waitlist a Chicago.
Siamo spiacenti per il mio cattivo italiano.
Saluti.

Ciao Doorman. I understand u probably have some problem in italian. so we can just speak english. what i meant was that I ve noticed many brazilians in any top school thread of admission. And I agree with you. I don t think they care about your origin and that being an italian could be a disadvantage for your application review ;)) I think more and more that brazilians might have more connections and important contacts with the admission office all over the US tier one school. I agree with Stagista as regards my little disappointment to see someone of 20 21 y. o. accepted from HLS when you feel better qualified and well presented from very top qualified Professors from US and Italy. I m lookin more at NYU now and wanna see if Columbia will consider me .......the sooner the better..

Hi leonaro,
may I ask you your references (e.g. your law firm experience, law school grade 100/100 or something like this, your age , your pro bono experience if you have did,) and which of top 10 law schools did you applied for?
Bye

I sent you a pm.

Leonardo, thank you for that. I can easily read , however I have "some" difficulty to write in Italian (I am shammed of that!). It is true about the connections, but it is true that some Brazilian uses "specialists" to do their applications, ps, etc. I really dont know if that happens in Italy.
A partner of my office, who is a Harvard Alumni, told me that Harvard normally chooses youngsters. Columbia, on the other hand, prefers more experience students.
Regarding my question (about the Italian citizenship), I know that the schools try to admit students from different parts of the world, and I am not sure if they would consider me as "Brazilian" and/or "Italian" on their analysis.
Good luck to you! Best!

Good luck to u too. I think it depends on your background like education, schools attended etc. because they wish to create a diverse class. I think that those people with expertise in the preparation of PS are here in Italy too . but I didn t know anyone......;)) Again Good luck.

Ciao a tutti.

Posted Mar 18, 2009 23:31
spqr, I PM you
Posted Mar 18, 2009 23:35
Ciao Nail.

To Leonardo:
why have you applied just us law school and have not considered uk law school?
do you think the us law school are more better than uk?
because i think those(us) are 1000 time better than uk, first of all for accademics and then for job opportunities, also I consider since the us law school offer to you incredible campus experience which is unique in the world.

Well, there are different reasons. first one is that I love US and its lifestyle, contradictions and opportunity. I studied in UK and think that it is a good system but for my ambitions US Schools are usually seen much much better.I d like to enter the NY Bar and work abroad. Become an international lawyer and a partner later in an international law firm is my dream. specialization on M & A and ADR's cannot be better studied than in US because of its Market mobility and dynamism. I gotta say also that I m thinkin of takin a PHD in US in the next years.......a concentration in Chinese or Asian Commerc. Law could be good investment and interesting , since i ve just started to learn chinese. :-) what are your plans? aims?

I completely agree with you for us lifestyle and for love us crazy life as well!
I'm working in shipping department in intl law firm, but I want to work abroad and I suppose could be worth for me get us LLM because just this give you a broad minded-view for.
I'm not kind of guy love study as much as phds do, because I like more practing rather than study! I think 1 year could be enough for me! become an international lawyer it's my dream and just with an llm you can do it....learn chinese it's very worth because I don't know many european guys able to do, and this is certainly a adv for you...I heard that italian lawyers have the best salary in the world, I don't know if this depends from Italian mafia....ahah I just kidding..but also I heard to get a job in italian law firm it's very hard and they have thousands hours to bill!
My plans as I told before it's to work in either dc or nyc us law firm although they don't have a lot of contacts with greek market and therefore will be a quite hard for.
