LOL!!! I just talked with a friend of mine who applied to the International Tax LLM at NYU and he received the admission e-mail yesterday night. He also got a scholarship, so I guess it's true that NYU is notifying the people who get a scholarship first and then the others.

I did not apply for the Hauser scholarship (same reason - I think I had a great chance of being offered one, and my 'financial advisor' - me - would kill me if I rejected it in order to wait for other decisions, such as Harvard ITP, SLS, YLS...).

So, I am sure that my scholarship - Gerald Wallace - is one of those with automatic candidacy...

Here is an excerpt of my admission letter that may help to clarify this point:

Dear Mr. [FRANZISKANER]:

I am very pleased to offer you admission to the Graduate Division of New York University School of Law as a candidate for the Master of Laws in the full-time International Taxation program for the Fall 2009 semester. You were selected from a talented group of applicants and we congratulate you on your outstanding record of achievement.
In addition, we have determined that you are eligible for the prestigious half-tuition Gerald L. Wallace Fund Scholarship. On average, we receive approximately 2000 applications to our graduate program each year. Within that pool there are a small number of applicants who possess academic records that are so exceptional, and have interests that are so well-matched to the opportunities NYU has to offer, that we have identified them as particularly deserving of a significant merit award. We used to award only Hauser Scholarships which were limited to about 10 each year. The strength of our applicant pool made it increasingly artificial to draw a meaningful line of distinction based on the credentials of this singular group. We established additional awards to enable us to recognize more of our strongest applicants, and we are happy to offer one to you. For important information on how to obtain the award, please be sure to read the instructions at the end of this letter.
The scholarship is not just a sum of money; it is a lifelong credential, and additionally provides the opportunity to receive personalized attention from the faculty. As you are eligible for one of our merit awards, we are also delighted to offer you the possibility of obtaining one of our selective
Research Associate positions. [...]"

Congrats to those also admitted!

Congrats to all the accepted. Really!
I am from Europe and still waiting... my guess is the acceptances have been sent first to those who were also offered a scholarship.
Anyways, I have an important question here: did you guys who received the offer for scholarship say that NYU would be your first priority? When I applied, I remember I didn't request the Global Houser for example because you were bound to accept straight away for NYU in case you were offered such scholarship... is the discourse similar for the other scholarships? Thanks for the info!

Hi all.

I am posting (yes for the first time- before all of the conspiracy theorists note this- I am genuine) to say that I just recieved admission to the general NYU LLM. I was not awarded a scholarship and wondered if anyone knew anything about financial aid from NYU. Thanks.

Good luck to all of those still waiting to hear.

We all need to smoke but not tobacco. Some lucky people are in admittance but some people are triking us. Every year is the same. Destiny 09 calm down, you show the point and some of us have it.

I've just received an offer from NYU, too. But the letter says nothing about scholarships or financial aid.

Did anyone (like me) decide not to apply for the Hauser because of the condition that you have to accept it immediately? My guess is that making an application for that scholarship can only improve your chances of receiving the others.

Mate. speak in english and let others join...I don't have time to waste on you...you failed the Yale challenge...People, we're all going to be getting decisions now anyway because Schools coordinate and Yale will be contacting us soon...so we can make decisions.

I spoke with them at length trying to force them to make me select or deny UPENN...but no luck..on that. Good luck to everyone (minus the yearly applicant) who's in at NYU
