If I understand correctly are you a US JD? From what I've read LLMs for US JDs are generally considered to be quite exceptional, other than for tax (and sometimes IP). I understand that for US JDs LLMs are not really considered for hiring decisions; JD results being given the most weight.

I think the most important consideration is what you want to do with the LLM, and in what location. The application process is all about making a convincing case. If you can do this, plus get some more work experience in your field and additional publications, maybe you'll stand a chance at the schools you mentioned. Just remember with subpar marks, you'll be fighting an uphill battle and will have to work hard to stand out.

Thanks for the response. I would like to go into academia, because I really enjoy scholarly writing and would like to have the opportunity to continue. That's what my interest in an LL.M. stems from.
