Harvard 2020-2021

Thanks guys! My 5 letters were academic, 4 from my home university and 1 from a university I did an exchange at. Do you think it makes a difference that all my letters are academic? I only graduated last November you see!

I do not think it makes any difference. There was no guide on whether a professional referee must be included. What matters in my view is to get people who you have worked with that can attest to your work. Even if you had worked before the application, I do not think it makes any difference. The idea is always to get someone who has something good to say about you. What you might worry a bit is the fact that you used 5 recommendations as all of them MAY not have different and unique things to say about you. Yet again, this does not matter, to my mind.

I am sure everyone would have gotten a status update from the HLS. The end of March is like forever but we have to continue to wait.

There was an email sent updating us on the admissions process to say they were on target and some of us thought it was offers or rejections.

I received it anyhow! I would think all applicants would have received. However, it was very detailed as to life at Harvard so who knows!

Precisely! Why so many details to a non-student?

I got it too. Seemed to be a standard email that everyone got.

I agree that its sent to many people. But don’t you guys think that the email is a little too detailed? I mean who shared such info about the activities of their law school, in such great depths, to people who are not yet students? And what purpose would it serve to send this info about how exciting life is at HLS when ultimately they are going to reject the candidate?

I agree. At first sight though, I thought it was an indication of admission, Lol!

Well. HLS usually sends one progress email to all applicants in Jan/Feb.

Even though this year's is detailed, I wouldn't read too much into it.

Good luck to everyone!

I have made many grammatical errors in my application but I have a solid profile. I'm so anxious about the decisions.

Did you get the email about they are still working on decisions? It was sent out last night.

The fact everyone here has received the same e-mail strongly suggests it means nothing lol

I think admissions team just wanted to let us know at which point they are in the review process and keep us excited about the potential chance of getting into HLS.

Bear in mind that anyone who manages to be accepted there will likely get into other schools as well, so they want to make sure potential candidates do not make a final decision until HLS results are released.
