I'm the product of a Jesuit college and law school so my inclination to study at Georgetown is natural. But beyond that, Georgetown is the top school for my intended concentration, National Security Law. It was a gamble to apply solely to Georgetown. But it worked out well. I also believe that the universe will conspire to give us all financial aid.

:). Thats a great thought KJP. Gcb, is the University of Virginia especially reputed in Competition law? Because Cornell and Gtown have better overall reputations, right?
As far as I am concerned..I have an offer from Essex, which is in the UK, and is very well known for Human Rights. G'town also seems like a great place to study, but I can't really work up too much of a debt.

Nope. But I think University of Virginia (UVA) is higher ranked (6th I guess) But I am trying to care less about these rankings since they are for JD programs and also recognition in the world is more important I think. But UVA also seems really really nice:)

Hey guys,
I checked out the admitted students website too :) I really share gcb's feelings - I've also got an offer from UVA. Although I need to wait for more results, both schools look really nice, and I don't think we can rely on "rankings" alone to decide. Anyway, hope we all can enjoy this thrilling, sometimes freaky but dream-inspiring procedure ;)

Congrats to all admitted applicants! Please could you answer my question relating to TOEFL? Did you guys meet the minimum requirements in ALL sections?? Is there no possibility to get in with one section under 25?
Posted Dec 19, 2013 17:04
I got a 116, and met the requirements in all sections.
As far as I know,TOEFL is not really a determining factor in admissions. Its more of a threshold that you need to cross.
Have you already reported your scores? If not, you can retake toefl.
If that is not an option then maybe you can explain in your SOP what went wrong, and why you did not meet the threshold?
Or you could drop an email to the school in question with the same question( though not in the same words).
Just my thoughts on what I would do in your place. Hope it helps.

My speaking was 23. So I don't think TOEFL is a determining factor if they can understand that your English is sufficient through your other application materials such as personal statement... I was also really worried about it but too busy and lazy to prepare for TOEFL, so I didn't take it for the second time:)

what's your total score? I am actually very worried about the TOEFL..:)

Admitted!!! :)
I have taken business & economic law as concentration.
Any idea about it-good/bad?
Can we change the concentration if we want?

My total score was 102.
I am also in business & economic law. But I don't have any idea about the good/bad thing. Still it's Georgetown anyways, how bad it can be :)) Congrats by the way.

Hey, Chinaman. I've been reading the admissions book. It IS amazing!
My first thought upon seeing the book: "When will I be featured on the cover?!"
Friday cheers, everyone! :)
