I figured it was worth starting a new thread for the Regular Action applicants seeing as the Columbia/Early Review thread has been viewed thousands of times!
Good luck everyone!

Good luck to you too! I am not confident given the early review group's excellent credentials. Aussiegirl where are you from? What's your background?

Same here! Some credentials I saw were quite impressive... But you never know... Good luck!

When do they usually release the Regular Action decisions?
Posted Jan 13, 2011 07:20
I'm afraid, from what I hear, they start releasing decisions for Regular Action in March sometime.

Dear All,
As far I know, Columbia started to release decisions of the regular cycle. In fact, I heard that one person was admitted two days ago. I will try to figure out when this person applied (Its seems that he/she applied on November...)

Wow, that's exciting to hear. I guess it makes sense as all Early Action applicants received a response before the end of December and the rest of the applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. It would be great if you could find out when this person sent their application in and which country they are from, if it's not too much trouble?

Columbia's admission process is totally random. One may have completed his/her application in early November and receive his/her admission decision in April.
Last year, applicants started to receive decisions from January and it lasted through April.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I guess we each just have to endure the painful wait over the next few months.

I know a person who submited her application right before the december 15 deadline and was admitted about a week ago...
She must have impressed them or something.....Although I know it is a sort of random process it does beg the question....Why did they take so little time reviewing some applications while they wait until april to release some others?
Do they look at your application and say "not bad but we´re not convinced...Let´s review some other applications first....If no one better comes over, we´ll admit this person"
It´s kind of scary.....It´s a very painful wait.....

My application didn't go complete until Dec 28. I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer. If people had to choose between Penn and Columbia, which would they go for?

No info at all from GLS but only the "app package complete" notification.

Have you guys heard of the Penn Club of New York?
Here is the official website: http://www.pennclub.org/
As far as I know, although Columbia has a club too, it is far from a well established gentlemen's club like the Penn Club. The Club would bring many network possibilities, in addition to the many amenities it offers. Worth a thought.

Where do you know this 'person'? You should cite your source, otherwise you would cause much unnecessary speculation and raise expectations in the most irresponsible manner.
The same can be said to the post by Hope2011. Please don't take it personally, guys.

Thanks for the reply. I did not know about this club. Every passing day I fell more found of Penn.
What puzzles, and consequently frustrates, me is why Penn's law ranking struggles to get into the top 5. At its best days Penn is only 'top 7'; whereas Columbia never fell out of the top 5 cohort. At its best, Columbia was ranked the 3rd.

It's rather important to belong to a Club. An established network is already there for you to explore. What can be more convenient? A little expensive, granted, but think of the bigger picture.
