Columbia Early Review (2016/2017)

I met Sylvia Polo in October here in Santiago and she said that most applications submitted in the early application stage are deferred to the regular cycle. Early admission admission offers are the exception, she said.

I was deferred too. I have some sense that everyone who wasn't admitted in the early review, was deferred, meaning no rejection letter would be sent out. So, it's not a good sign at all.

Just now? After the deferred your application?

How many LORs did you submit?

Yes, a few minutes ago.

I submitted two LORs, but none from my direct supervisor because he couldn't sign the letter on time for the early admission deadline, so they are requesting me that letter now (just by email, not through LSAC).

Hey everyone!

I am new to this board discussion, very nice to meet to you all. I am also an early applicant and (sadly) on monday morning I received an email where CLS deferred me to the regular cycle. Congratulations to those that got admitted! Does someone knows if that means that they will re-consider the application, or that they will start reviewing it from scratch?

I am crossing finger so that any decision comes early march! I also applied to Stanford, Cornell, Chicago and NYU.

Hey guys, I got admitted a few days ago! I'm so glad to meet you all :)

For people deferred to the regular cycle, you're chances of getting in are just as well as of any other person who applied in the regular cycle. So don't doubt yourself, you're going to receive that e-mail! And then we're all going to be friends :)

I was admitted as well. Anyone got any idea of how many students which will be admitted in total?

missyelliott I believe that the Early Admission process is over now, so you will have to wait until late Feb. or March for the regular cycle results.

Congrats Applicant24! That's great news.

I got admitted in the early review as well but haven't heard anything about financial aid. The email said the financial decisions will be made in the regular cycle so I guess anytime between now and March.

Hi,

I have a doubt. Just want to know if anyone here is aware of how the classes are carried out, as in, do the LLMs share 'all' their cases with the JD students in the US or is it like the BCL at Oxford where Grads have separate classes? I am aware that some classes in most Ivy League colleges for the LLMs are held with the JDs.

Also, on receiving an offer, what is the average/ordinary duration a university gives candidates to confirm their seat/admission?
