I agree with you. The admissions staff at Columbia are ruining the university´s prestige among many would-be LLMs... I am sure that professors, etc., are a quite different thing, but the point is that in a competitive environment like the US education system, you can´t afford to that, even if you are Columbia. It seems, however, to be an Ivy League problem, as HLS and YLS did it quite bad as well... I guess joining an university is like becoming part of a club - and the point is: what kind of club would you like to be part of? That´s what happened to me with Georgetown: just like anushka, I feel bad about rejecting their offer, since they were really caring during the whole process: e-mails, meetings, Xmas cards, etc. I wish them well, and even though it´s hard to say no to CLS or HLS, I had made my mind about going to Georgetown if I weren´t accepted at NYU, which was my dream school... Thanks god NYU admissions people are behaving fine for the time being; otherwise I would give a second though about my decision...

called up CLS to talk abt finances..... lady was sweet...kept on laughing...wanted perhaps to be blunt...but i was smarter in not tellin her what i wanted....

hey anushka...this is probably false hope...but i knw sumone who got the HR fellowship last year...n only got n admission in the 1st week of April...so, maybe...there's a teeny weeny hope...

At this point, I'm so used to waiting, I don't mind waiting some more...getting a fellowship besides being admitted to CLS would be simply amazing...But as I posted earlier, I'm planning on waiting only for a couple of weeks more...
(My reasons: it's not because I'm "impatient"...it's because you gotta enroll, pay the deposit, get the I-20, get an appointment to get the visa, look for housing, etc etc etc...and I really don't want to face all that altogether in the last minute.)
So I really hope I hear from CLS soon...

I sent an email today to the admission office to tell them that I was in a difficult situation with regard to other universities and needed a quick answer.
I received an answer (rejection) but I don't think that they felt pressure. At least, now, I can make my choice.

Did anyone admitted to CLS receive their official letter via ups or otherwise???
I was informed my admission by email on March 11, and have not received anything to date.
I am concerned about the deadline for deposit but getting no information!
BTW, I come from Taiwan.

The CLS informed me that they sent out the packet on March 8 via air mail, but I have received nothing so far. They told me that the deadline for deposit in my case is April 24.

I talked to someone who was admitted last year at Columbia for his LLM. He told me that he never received the packet; even if he was admitted, he got only an e-mail. He called them. They were very arrogant. He never received the letter of admission by mail. Then he decided to reject their offer and give his money to another school. I understand that. It is the same for whatever we buy, and maybe more in that case (the amount is so high!). I hope that you will have more chances.

Anyone knows if the admission process is still on ? Does Columbia send out rejection emails too ?

According to a reply I got from CLS, the admission decisions are made till late April....so it should be still on.....
As far as I know - from other people's posts here in this board- they do send out rejection emails...
