Usually the LLM class is made up of students from around 27-29 different countries so it's safe to assume that quite a lot of students from these 77 countries will be weeded out in the selection process

I guess Chicago has been the most professional university and it gives us hope all the time :)
Posted Jan 18, 2013 13:30
Oh yes! Chicago is definitely one of my top choices!
and the pizza looks amazing! :)
hahaha I can testify it! the pizza, bief, burgers, live music and in my opinion the most beatuful skyscrapers in the Country...
you will love it! I had the great opportunity to do an internship in a Law Firm in Chicago and I could say is an amazing city! and regarding law schools, I visited both Chicago and Northwestern (in this last one I attended classes since one of the partners is a professor there). Both are great! I would say that North is better located in downtown.. Chicago is not in a save area, but on contrast, it has a beautiful campus and is the most respected university in the City.
Good luck to all! if you end up in Chicago you will enjoy!

Hello everyone! Nice to say hello to many well qualified candidates applying for an LLM.
I just wanted to remind you about what Richard stated on the email he sent yesterday. We should consider which school we are interested the most and if we get admitted, we should withdraw our applications to give more chances to other candidates.
Last week I was accepted to Georgetown and I already withdrew the rest of my applications. I will like to encourage you to do the same, so others can get in.

Yes, only three weeks left!! Receiving Richard's email made me nervous, anxious and excited all at the same time!
I agree that Chicago manages the process better than most of the universities. At least we know at which stage the Admission Office is right now. It makes the waiting period somewhat tolerable :))

I will not withdraw from anything.
Two reasons:
One: I paid for my application to be considered. I want my money's worth.
Two: I applied for financial aid, too. I'll settle for what comes cheapest. And I ain't seen no free ride yet.
You hang in there, kids.

Except places like Chicago are worth the debt. Others however...

I've received it too. Its really impressive the attention given by Richard to Chicago's applicants. I havent received such a detailed follow-up from any university other than Chicago's.

can anyone tell me what the financial aid in Chicago is like for intnl students?
Posted Jan 30, 2013 19:33
International students do not have the same privilege as US nationals at receiving financial aid. This is what the Chicago FAQ states here: http://www.law.uchicago.edu/prospective/financialaid/faq
Q: Are all of these programs open to me if I am an international student?
A: Unfortunately international students cannot participate in the federal loan programs. However, you are still eligible for Scholarships and may still apply for private alternative loans. It is important to note that the Law School cannot assist you in securing a private loan. You must apply directly with private lenders. A U.S. cosigner may be required for you to secure funding with a U.S. lender.
