Hi
may I just ask what was the rationality behind turning down the UCLAs offer? is that because you got into Berkeley or you did not find UCLA that much generous in granting financial aid.
Cheers!

Hi stick to law,
In my case I gave up my spot in UCLA, because I got into Berkeley and I was granted with a full scholarship of my government but only for Berkeley.
Good luck to you!

Any waitlist news?
I suppose that chances of admission are decreasing since UCLA announced to open up its LLM program to 20 more spots for graduates from US law schools including deffered hires. http://law.ucla.edu/home/News/Detail.aspx?recordid=2183

I read this article too and what I could infer is that this seems to be additional 20 seat exclusively for JDs, and mostly with capstone courses (specialised) and that makes total intake to 80 this year, because UCLA has already decided to take 60 students at the regular program.

The good news is I receive an email from UCLA today!
The (less) good or bad news is I get waitlisted.
My chance seems to be minute as few admitted ppl decline its offer while lots of ppl got waitlised.
Those who r waiting, good luck!

Hello everyone !
I sent an email to Vic Telesino about the impact of the news offers for JD on the waiting list , here his answer :
"Although the administration has authorized the enrollment of 20 additional LL.M. students in the new Transition to Practice course of study, admissions decisions will be made entirely independently of those for the standard LL.M. program by a separate admissions committee based upon standards and qualifications that differ somewhat from those of the standard LL.M. application.
By early May, we will have received responses from all applicants who were offered admission to the standard LL.M. program, and the Committee will begin making offers of admission to those currently on our waiting list. Notifications will continue throughout May and June. Admissions decisions for those currently on the LL.M. program waiting list will be made independently of decisions made for the Transition to Practice program, so the new program will not have any impact on your status."
I hope you ll enjoy this information !

@thisonegirl ....hmmmm slots filling so fast, isn't it? you too waiting girl...where from?
Posted Apr 23, 2009 20:11
I think chances will be really rare to get in from waitlist. Probably depends whether or not one of your home country declined the offer.
Posted Apr 23, 2009 20:14
is these slots somewhat based upon home country portfolio?
Posted Apr 23, 2009 20:24
I'm not sure but I could imagine it is having "diversity" in mind.
Posted Apr 23, 2009 20:29
yes sir, diversity is da name of da game, afterall school have to show "we're the world", students from every part of the world - their future brand ambassdors.
